Ex-Rangers star predicts end of the road for key Ibrox man

Rangers fell short of another Scottish Premiership title after Celtic were crowned champions following their latest win over Kilmarnock. With the transfer window drawing nearer, Philippe Clement can start to weigh up his options on the market and make a decision on some current Ibrox players.

Former Gers forward Rory Loy believes James Tavernier could be someone who moves on this summer and that the club should take an offer if it comes their way. The skipper has contributed a huge 24 goals and 12 assists from right-back across all competitions this season.

“I don’t want to diminish his achievements here, especially on an individual basis, he has been fantastic through really difficult times. I just think all good things have to come to an end,” Loy told Sportsound. “There’s been a lot of good times while he’s been here. But, I just think it’s time that he was moved on, and if there is an offer to come from the Middle East or wherever else, I would take it, I really would.

“I would go into next season with Dujon Sterling in his natural position as my right-back. People will argue till they are blue in the face that you are taking 20 goals out the team. Fine. No team in history has ever been, or ever should be, reliant on their right-back to score enough goals to win them a league. That should never happen in my opinion.”

Scotland international in Premier League talks

Scotland’s Ché Adams is reportedly in ‘advanced discussions’ over a Premier League switch following Wolves’ heavy interest in bringing him to Molineux this summer. The 27-year-old’s contract with Southampton is due to expire at the end of the season and the West Midlands outfit are leading the race to sign him on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 season.

According to FootballTransfers, talks between Wolves and Adams’ representatives are ‘progressing positively ahead of him becoming a free agent at the end of next month. Earlier this year, the 27-year-old admitted that Southampton will 'always play a part' in his life but as his days count down, it’s time for a new chapter for the Scotland international.

Adams has contributed 17 goals and six assists this season and will be a huge coup for any club that signs him this summer for free.
