New bosses of Edinburgh’s famous Jazz Bar have announced when it will open its doors after a fundraising campaign prevented permanent closure.

The Chamber Street venue shut suddenly in April but by the end of May had been taken over by Nick and Justyna Mushlin.

They called on regulars to help a fundraiser aimed at overcoming the financial challenges plaguing the business - and to let them establish it again as a non-profit.

Bosses of the holding firm - named The Jazz Bar Edinburgh CIC - say more details on the nightspot’s return are yet to come.

More than £40,000 has been raised on the crowdfunder - which was set up to help with start-up costs and repay loans.

There are plans to ‘channel all operating surplus back into the venue’ with ‘all assets locked into and owned by the social enterprise’.
