Ex-Black Cats manager has watched ‘a little bit’ of new show

Hibs manager Jack Ross admits he has watched “a little bit” of the latest series of Sunderland Til I Die.

The current Easter Road boss was in charge of Sunderland for the whole of the 2018/19 campaign, which formed the second series of the popular documentary on the Wearside club.

The Black Cats missed out on promotion to the Championship after losing a play-off final to Charlton in heartbreaking circumstances, while also missing out in the Checkatrade Final to Portsmouth on penalties. Both defeats came at Wembley.

Ross – who was relieved of his duties as Sunderland boss in October last year - features regularly in Netflix show and comes across well, although managing director Charlie Methven and owner Stewart Donald are the main characters.

“I've watched a little bit of it, but I haven't watched it all,” said Ross when asked about the show in an interview with Sky Sports TV.

“It's no surprise to say that I lived through that period, so I don't need to necessarily watch it to know what it was like and to remember it.

“Of course, it's a television programme so some of it is a little bit different to the reality.

“I said this when I first left Sunderland that I had a fantastic time there as manager. I loved every minute of it. It was a privilege to manage the club and I wish them well in the future as well.”
