Celtic captain Scott Brown has been ruled out by injury for up to 12 weeks.

The Scottish champions confirmed today that the 30-year-old has aggravated a knee injury and will be out for two-to-three months.

Brown limped off the pitch at the end of the Glasgow club’s 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock on Saturday and scans confirmed that he won’t play again this year.

The 49-times capped Scotland midfielder will miss Celtic’s two remaining Europa League matches on Thursday night against Ajax and two weeks later in Istanbul against Fenerbahce, and will be a doubt for their League Cup semi-final against Ross County at the end of January.
