Edinburgh nostalgia: 10 pictures looking back at legendary gigs in Edinburgh, including Prince and David Bowie

David Bowie, Prince, Nirvana… Edinburgh has hosted some truly unforgettable gigs down the years.

Edinburgh is often referred to as the ‘poor cousin’ of neighbouring Glasgow when it comes to attracting the biggest names in music – but our fair city has seen its fair share of legendary gigs.

Some of the biggest names in music have played here – including The Beatles, Prince, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Nirvana.

There have also been plenty of bands who visited either before they were famous, or just as they were on the brink of superstardom, such as Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.

Scroll through our photo gallery for a musical nostalgia trip – and let us know your own favourite gig in the comments section before you go.
