It comes as Scotland’s health minister Jeane Freeman warned today that NHS Scotland could be forced to operate with up to 30 per cent of its staff off sick throughout the coronavirus outbreak.
The Scottish Government is hoping to use student nurses and medical students who are near completion of their training, to help fill the gap.
Chanchellor Rishi Sunak also delivered his first Budget today and pledged a £30 billion package to help the UK economy respond to coronavirus, and warned the outbreak will bring a “significant impact” in the short term. Among the Budget announcements is that the UK Government will cover sick pay costs for up to 14 days for firms with less than 250 staff.

In more severe cases, coronavirus can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, multiple organ failure and even death.
Those with weakened immune systems - older people and those with underlying health conditions like asthma or heart disease - are more likely to become severely ill.
The World Health Organisation says the incubation period lasts up to 14 days.
