US missiles hit buildings in two Pakistani villages close to the Afghan border, killing about 19 people, most of them suspected militants including some foreigners, officials said today.
The US has launched a flurry of strikes in recent weeks against suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban targets in north-western Pakistan.

Pakistan has been unwilling or unable to eliminate militant sanctuaries blamed for violence on both sides of the frontier.

Now that they've got another 850 billion dollars to play with, and Bush at the helm for another 3 months, God help us all.
Pakistan must be tickled pink to have allies like the US just crashing the border and bombing at will any target, regardless of what or who that target is.
Sure happy not to be living in Canada any more and having a "friendly" neighbour like that.
I noticed that most of the dead are suspected militants, that's refreshing and assuring. Who were the rest, kids on their way to school or coming home from school? And what were the buildings? Schools or hospitals? Or just plain old houses belonging to the villagers?

'killing about 19 people, most of them suspected militants' Does that mean 'we're not sure who they were, but we got them anyway'

#3 Maurice,
You about hit the nail dead on, better hope you're never a suspect eh? If they don't bomb you they sure as hell will waterboard you. Comforting thought isn't it?

~3 - Yes - & as the end justifies the means, it's perfectly acceptable, especially if it brings an early end to the savage & anti social ways of these murderous "militants".

Postmark-55 and Mashimaro, both in China.Perhaps you should read the story on other sources. There is little doubt that the top militant was the target and it succeeded in nailing him. As for the women and children heartstring tugging tears, from a wee bit hypocritical. The Chinese are the leading proponents of "killing the eggs as well as the nits" or "If you want to get rid of the weeds(in this case terrorists),you also burn the roots"!
What does SunZi say about it?
