Youths hurl stones at pensioners on bus

ELDERLY passengers on a shopping trip were forced to duck for cover as stone-throwing youths pelted their bus.
The six women, aged between 75 and 85, were travelling on a Handicabs' Dial-A-Bus vehicle when it came under attack. The youths, who were wearing school uniforms, hurled stones at the windows from beneath a bridge in Livingston. The damage is estima
ted at £1500.

One of the windows next to an 80-year-old woman splintered, but the toughened glass prevented it from shattering over her. The passengers were left shocked but uninjured, and had to wait for another bus to be sent to collect them.

It is the second time this year that the bus service has been attacked by youths following an incident two months ago in the Deans area of Livingston. A window was broken which showered an elderly woman with glass.

The vehicle attacked last Thursday was hit at the bus stop at Ladywell West Road, near Da Vinci's Hotel, at around 4pm. The passengers were being taken back to Deans after a trip to the Almondvale Shopping Centre.

The vehicle will now stay in the repair shop for a month while a new window is sourced and fitted.

Handicabs' Gary Toner said: "The passengers were all frail and elderly and they were left very frightened."

Most likely chasing a motorist. They are top priority for the police these days. They have lost the ability to walk the beat and mix with the general public.

The driver of the OAP bus should be armed with a very accurate, powerful rifle and allowed to shot these little maggots. What has gone wrong in the UK with young people? It beggars belief that they could think this type of act is somehow normal. It's a scummy part of the town and is full of parents who would banned from keeping a pet but are allowed to raise children. No wonder society is collapsing.

I don't live very far from there, say I was to catch them doing it again and gave one of them a hiding, what sort of jail term could I expect for trying to teach these pondlife a lesson?

If we hadn't had our right to keep and bear arms removed, this headline could have read "Feral Children's Bus Attack Stopped by Armed Citizens".

After the clearup, Livingston would have taken a small step towards civilisation.

its as if parents dont give a damn anymore,or perhaps they are too thick/drunk/drugged up etc to keep tabs on what their kids get up to,punish the parents too!

It's always been happening. In the 1970's, BBC Nationwide ran a competition to highlight the dangers of this behaviour. Different teams of kids were asked to try and throw as many stones at a train with crash test dummies as passengers. Then the results were televised.

Well well - what scum the kids of today are - the only way to sort them out is bring back the belt, the birch, the stocks, and public hangings - these kids need to be taught respect.

I know it's probably a comfort for you guys to think that things back then were so much better but, as #9 says, this sort of thing has been happening for decades. I witnessed it first hand on a couple of occassions back in the 80's.

The kids that do it need severe punishment though. Does anyone know of a case where they have been caught and punished?

If they were wearing a school uniform then a description of that would be a good place to start. Head to the school in August for a few assemblies on stupidity and its consequences.

No doubt there will be plenty of action during the summer, and I would hope if the parents found out they would deal with their charming offspring.

Yup, the belt is banned in schools and your not allowed to discipline your kids according to some do-gooders, the police are toothless and are too busy taxing motorists anyway, and the courts are so liberal that even, on the off, chance they get there they know they will be let off at worst with a wee, metaphorical, slap on the wrists .... And are we, is anyone, surprised that large elements of youth are completely out of control when there is no means to control them anymore !!!

The PC brigade have made everyone so darn scared of saying boo to a goose they have eroded the fundamental right that the rest of us have to living in a society that is more or less half decent !

Kids do need the threat of the belt, the cane, the birch, the cat o'nine tails and good cuff round the lug or a slap on the legs to teach - without pussyfooting about - where certain boundaries of decent behavior lies. People respect, they may not like, but they do respect boundaries that have consequence should they be stepped over. The problem with having no boundaries and no consequence is the fact that these kids have no direction and no respect for themselves because they have never been taught respect for anything. If you don't give youth any direction or discipline they will end up hating you for it and that is exactly what has happened over the last 30 years or so ....

The PC brigade and the anti-kids-discipline brigade (whatever they are called now) should hang their heads in shame and what is more I take the view that with every stabbing, slashing, and killing perpetrated by those 30 and under that these pathetic do-gooders have a little more blood on their hands ..... they are directly responsible for this dreadful failure in society.

Give the drivers a licence to kill and see how these scum like being chased, run over and crushed by a bus. Once they've been flattened it may make it harder to identify them but at least it would be one less a**hole to worry about.
