A PARADE for homecoming troops was held in the Capital today to welcome those returning from Iraq.
Members of the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, took to the Royal Mile as one of a series of parades being held across the country.
Despite being stationed in one of the world's most dangerous places, the soldiers spent their time in Iraq raising money in a unique way.
The troops decided to push themselves physically and raise money for a military charity while stationed in the Middle East.
Members of battalion ran 52 half-marathons back to back. The £3000 they raised in the process was presented to the Erskine Veterans this morning at a ceremony at Edinburgh Castle.
Founded in 1916, Erskine looks after veterans throughout Scotland and has supporters across the world.
They care not only for veterans of the Second World War, but also those involved in the Falklands, Northern Ireland and the Balkans.
