SIX Lothian drugs squad officers who were told not to report for duty amid an inquiry have returned to work.
A police spokesman said today witness statements had been taken from the five uniformed officers and one detective.

This has now been done, and the officers will return to duties.

The spokesman added: "It must be emphasised that none of these officers are suspected of any criminality, and any subsequent management review of the City of Edinburgh Divisional Drugs Unit will revolve around issues such as systems and procedures."

Earlier this week PC Christopher McGinn, 28, appeared in court in connection with alleged drugs offences.
