A MAN who used binoculars to look at young girls from his flat window was today put on probation.
Philip Penstone, 27, of North Fort Street, Leith, looked at nine-year-old girls through the binoculars as they played near his home and when they challenged him he pulled his trousers down.

The girls reported him to police who then questioned Penstone.

He told them he was trying to make the girls think he was a sex offender so they would stay away.

Penstone pleaded guilty to public indecency at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

Sheriff James Farrell handed him a 12-month probation order, and recommended he visit a psychiatrist.
