POLICE expressed their disappointment today after the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester was marred by clashes betweeen rival supporters.
Six men, believed to be Rangers fans, were arrested after a Russian supporter was stabbed in the City of Manchester ground. An estimated 100,000 Rangers fans met in the city where their side lost 2-0 to Zenit St Petersburg.
Firefighters cut off car roof to free driver FIREFIGHTERS had to cut the roof from a car to help free the driver following a crash in Midlothian. The accident happened just after 5pm last night, close to the Pentland Science Park at Bush Loan. It is understood three cars were involved. Emergency services were alerted and rushed to the scene.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue service said ambulance staff had asked them to cut the roof from one of the cars, in order to give them as much space as possible to remove the injured man.
The man was understood to be complaining of back and neck injuries, and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for a precautionary scan. It was not known whether anyone else was injured.
