A MISSILE strike believed to have been launched by a US drone aircraft killed at least five people in the North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan today, Pakistani intelligence officials said.
They said three children were among the wounded in the attack, which came two days after Pakistan lodged a protest with the US ambassador over missile attacks on its territory.

The missiles targeted a house near the town of Mir Ali. Nearby villages have been targeted several times.

Rashid Rauf was among the curry munchers killed so this attack in my opinion was a great piece of work. Let it be a lesson to anyone who wants to harbour islamic fugitives and terrorist. For good measure the british government should destroy any homes belonging to his family over here.

The transatlantic bombing plot alleged mastermind Rashid Rauf was killed along with an Egyptian Al-Qaeda operative in the US missile strike in North Waziristan early Saturday," a senior security official told AFP.

A Western diplomatic source told AFP the missile was fired from a jet across the border in Afghanistan.

British-Pakistani Rauf was arrested in 2006 in Pakistan over the bomb plot, sparking a worldwide security alert, and 24 people were detained in Britain in a major swoop.

A day later a massive security operation at London's Heathrow Airport resulted in mass cancellations of flights for several days over fears of a terrorist attack using liquid explosives on flights from London to the US.

Above is the Guardian report and below is the BBC. The details of how he escaped show the true level of assistance we receive from the Pakistan government.

It's this connection back to the UK which elevated Rashid Rauf's alleged importance.

Rashid Rauf is said to have played the role of a facilitator, connecting radicalised young British men with the Mujahideen in Pakistan.

US authorities say that while in Pakistan Mr Rauf became involved in an alleged 2006 plot to explode liquid bombs aboard transatlantic airliners.

The exposure of the alleged plot led to tough restrictions being imposed on air passengers across the globe.

Rauf was arrested in Pakistan and was remanded to Adiala prison which, according to human rights campaigners, has been the scene of physical abuse and torture of terrorism suspects.

In December 2006 he resurfaced in court. A judge dismissed terrorism charges but said Rauf should still face explosives and false identity allegations.

The UK pressed for his extradition in connection to the Birmingham.

That application was progressing when he escaped in December 2007. According to the official version of events, he managed to unlock his own handcuffs and escaped while being allowed to pray alone at a mosque near the courthouse. The mosque in question is said to have high walls leading to open fields.

It's not clear to this day whether that is genuinely what happened, the suspicion being that pro-Islamist intelligence officials in Pakistan helped the Briton to quietly flee.

#3 burqa brigade,
I'd like to see your response if three innocent children in your family get hurt in an attack on your country by invaders from another country, guaranteed you'd snap and try to hunt down the guilty party. I know I would and I'd succeed even if dying while trying. You are the true terrorist appeaser if you back the Yanks in their illegal invasion and illegal occupation of Iraq resulting in the slaughter of untold thousands and the suffering of untold millions of innocent people. Try to think about that for awhile and take all the time you need, you seem to be the type that needs a lot of time to let things sink in.

#7 and #8 burqa brigade,
No I'm not into suicide bombing but if someone hurts or kills one or more of my loved ones I'll go after him/them with all I got even if it means I'll die trying, and if you could read you'd also know that it would be kind of impossible to b#gger off from the UK, since I'm living in China.
Now go back to thinking boy, you didn't take long enough because obviously nothing has sunk in yet.

#9 burqa brigade,
And you're the terrorist apeaser because you back the American administration in their illegal invasion and illegal occupation of Iraq. They entered that war on lies and false pretenses and here we are 5 and a half years later and they are still slaughtering the innocent. They supposedly were lookin for weapons of mass destruction, conveniently killed Saddam and his cabinet while there and after all that they're still not satisfied because Iraq won't cave and give in to the American version of Democracy. If they were to invade your country, whatever that country is, you too would fight back and if you were losing innocent family members you too would fight 'til death, if you wouldn't it wouldn't say much for you or your character. Maybe you like licking the boots of the American aggressors but I sure as hell don't. I will fight to death to protect my family and I'd hope most people would do the same.

12--he's not from China, he's a Canadian who pretends he's from China and parrots hard-line Chinese nationalist propaganda.

Postmark-55.You are making a fool of yourself with your anti-American sentiments.I stated before that you are a Canadian with the typical inferiority complex towards your American cousins south of your previous home. The Americans are to be congratulated for wiping this piece of faecal matter off the face of the earth. Your inane and pointless comments about "innocent civilians and children is total hypocrisy" Read the "ART OF WAR" by Sun Zi.It is still the definitive tome on warfare today. It is available in English on line for free. The Chinese would wipe out the terrorist and his whole family. Who was it advocated "Kill the nits and the eggs, lest they grow up to kill you"? The Americans? Don't think so.
As for hang Bush etc! hysterical hanky-wringing on your part.Get out of Afghanistan and Iraq, then what? Xinjiang will be next, then let's hear your gums flapping! You have done nothing, been nowhere (other than China)and it shows.

#13 Ben More,Edinburgh. I am not Chinese, nor do I support terrorism in any form.Your miniscule mind needs to research a bit more mate. "parrots hard-line Chinese nationalist propoganda" The Nationalists are the ones in Taiwan and nothing to do with Chinese policy. As for China's stance on terrorism? They would do exactly what the Americans are doing at present, were they part of the Afghan joint force. Were it China alone, they would sort out Pakistan in short order. They have just told the Pakistani's to look elsewhere for money to haul their butts out of the present financial crisis. That in itself will make less money available for the 'TOTALLY SCHIZOPHRENIC' Pakistanis to siphon into terrorism.
