A CLUBBER who smashed a pint tumbler into a barman's face was ordered to pay him £1000 today.
Doctors who picked glass fragments out of the wounds to Andrew Gillespie's face said he would be scarred for life.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard how rowdy Graham Lawrie, 26, was being thrown out of the Medina Nightclub in the city's Lothian Street when he lashed out.
When police caught up with him he told them: "I am a muppet. I can't believe what I have done."
In court he admitted assaulting Mr Gillespie to his injury and permanent disfigurement in the early hours of January 13.
Lawrie of Cleugh Road, Roslin, Midlothian, was put on probation for a year.
Sheriff Isabella McColl also ordered him to carry out 240 hours unpaid community work, as well as paying compensation.
