CURRIE Star goalkeeper Gary Underwood clutches the ball in this attack by Edinburgh United in a rearranged under-16 game at Kingsknowe.
Underwood and his team-mates were 2-0 down within three minutes courtesy of James Tanahill and Tom Chalmers, but it was all Currie Star after that.

Goals from Robert Purdie and Dale Large for the home side made the score 2-2 and further strikes f
rom Colin Robertson (2) and an own goal put Currie 5-2 in front at the halfway stage.

Despite a magnificent display by Edinburgh United goalkeeper Steve Slyn, he was unable to stop the home side taking the score to double figures in the second half.

Purdie was on the mark again, and again in the second period, with Nial Strickland also getting in on the goalscoring act.

To their great credit, the Edinburgh United players did their best against a much better organised and more skilful Currie Star outfit in this midweek game that came to close as the light faded.

Hopefully, the United players will continue to play football and get themselves better organised to play as a team.

They need to close ranks when the going gets tough and never give in. They were given great encouragement from the touchlines but the desire to suceed in football, must come from the players themselves.
