CITY OF EDINBURGH hope to cement their place at the top of their pool in the Top Teams Volleyball Cup with a win over city rivals Rucanor Jets tomorrow.
Edinburgh are unbeaten in the competition and another win would ensure they are given a favourable draw for next month's Final Four. It is a remarkable change in fortunes for the team who flirted dangerously with relegation last season.

Swing hitter Colin Macnab has a theory why that has come about. "We had such a miserable season last year that I think it just made us all determined that we didn't want to be in that situation again," he explained. "The whole ethos of the team has changed and we're all pulling for each other.

"Ian Brownlee – our coach last year – is now working with the younger players at the club so the players are really doing the coaching themselves which has also helped pull us together."

The only other team unbeaten in the competition this season are Glasgow Mets, who have taken the scalps of champions Kilmarnock and also City of Glasgow Ragazzi.

In the women's competition, Team Edinburgh are unbeaten, having defeated Lenzie and Rucanor Jets and face league champions Su Ragazzi tomorrow.
