EDINBURGH CAPITALS have gone back in time to recruit for the future by re-signing proven Slovakian centre Andrej Rajcak.
The stylish player claimed 14 goals and set up 31 other strikes in 50 games during the 2006-07 season. And the 36-year-old continued his points gathering by scoring 21 goals and recording 35 assists in 45 games playing for Totempo HVIK in Denmark la
st season.

Doug Christiansen, Capitals' director of coaching, is excited by the return of the evergreen playmaker.

The American playcaller doesn't yet know where the veteran forward will play and that decision will be made once the 6ft 3in ace arrives.

However, Christiansen said: "He finished seventh in the Danish league last season which is really competitive and he outscored a number of quality players."

Rajcak first arrived in Scotland's Capital after almost five successful seasons with Zvolen HKM in Slovakia and a 15-game spell with Bressanone ASDA in Italy where he scored 12 goals and recorded nine assists.

Capitals know exactly what they are getting and Rajack also knows what he is coming to having enjoyed his spell at Murrayfield last time round.

Christiansen has not seen the stylish player on the ice but has done his homework and spoken to Rajcak several times. He is impressed.

The club's director of hockey said: "Andrej is not a physical player – we know that. That's not what he's here for.

"He's here to create chances, collect points and to contribute on power plays. He is knowledgeable about hockey and I am excited about bringing him back here.

"He knows the organisation, he knows some of the players, he knows the city and has experience in different leagues. He can contribute to this club.

"A lot depends on how we see things in training but we may play him in the centre of wing. I believe he will do well for us."
