Indie band Dirty Pretty Things, who are due to play at Edinburgh's Picture House on Sunday, have confirmed they are to split after three years together
The band, fronted by Carl Barat, formed after the dissolution of Barat's former group the Libertines.

The four-piece - featuring another ex-Libertine in drummer Gary Powell as well as ex-Cooper Temple Clause bassist Didz Hammond and guitarist Ant
hony Rossomondo - formed in September 2005 and took their name from a club night regularly hosted by Barat in London venues.

But after releasing two albums - 2006's Waterloo to Anywhere and this year's Romance at Short Notice - the band have announced their split.

In a statement issued to NME.com, the quartet - whose biggest hit was Bang, Bang, You're Dead - said they were disbanding to concentrate on new musical projects, though it stressed this did not involve a Libertines reunion. "It is with some sadness we announce the farewell of the Dirty Pretty Things," the statement read.

"It's been a glorious three years which we all would gladly live out again, but it is time for us to try new things. (not the Libertines).

"We are reluctant to give up touring but will give the last waltz everything. We have and are determined to go out as we came in, after which we all have other ventures to be getting on with and splendid future plans.

It added: "Heartfelt thanks to all who made it what it was, much love and we'll see you on the road."
