What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I first came to Edinburgh as a stage manager for a show in the 1998 Festival Fringe. I arrived late at night, in the rain, and went straight to a student flat where I slept on the floor wi
th 12 others for the next six weeks. I fell in love with the city and, when I graduated from university in London, I moved straight up.
What are your memories of school? I went to Steyning Grammar School in Sussex. It was fun – I just found my diaries again. Endless trivia about friendships and boys, along with the odd observation about what was wrong with the world.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? It's got to be Portobello Swim Centre. The original Victorian building is stunning inside, especially the Turkish baths. And you just can't beat the views from the cafe across the beach.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? It's a great mix – there's history, good bars and restaurants, parks and shopping. There's always something to do, and it's always good to show off to friends and family who come to visit.
What would you change about the city? The only thing I'd change is the weather so we could get a decent summer.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. Edinburgh's at its best during December when Winter Wonderland takes over the Gardens. So my perfect evening is drinking Gluhwein in the German market on a dark frosty night with friends.
Which sports interest you? I did the Great North Run last year which has got me hooked on running. I also love yoga and Pilates so BodyBalance is great for me.
What was your most embarrassing moment? Falling off a ski simulator in a cocktail dress in front of my boss!
What is your greatest achievement? Whilst at university, I set up a theatre company which brought shows to the Fringe. My proudest moment was the first time we sold out. You can't beat the feeling as the lights go down on a full, paying audience.
