THE Lion Rampant flag is today flying next to the Saltire above the Scottish Government's headquarters, to mark the first St Andrew's Day under a Nationalist administration. Workers were allowed to take the day as a public holiday under legislation passed last year, but most of the country was expected to be working.
First Minister Alex Salmond is one of the Crown representatives permitted to use the Royal Arms of Scotland. He decided both the Saltire and the Lion Rampant should fly outside St Andrew's House in Regent Road today.

He said: "The Saltire is the flag of Scotland and the Lion Rampant is the people's flag."

The lion rampant is NOT the 'people's flag' it is the royal standard - only meant to be flown when her majesty is in residence.

The Queen of Scots is referred to as "her Grace", not her majesty.

It's our flag anyway, not only does that lady have the wrong title, but she's in the wrong line. Who appoints Lord Lyon? She does (officially).

I don't give a flying you know what for the "royal" parasites. The Stewart Tartan is the National Tartan, The Kirk has the Saltire, and the Lion Rampant belongs to the people of the land that is held in trust for them by the Monarch ... so because we don't really have a real one ... it's OURS ... and we'll fly it when we bl**dy well like!!
