TRANENT failed to replicate their league form as they tumbled out of the East of Scotland Cup in disappointing fashion at Memorial Park. The visitors took the lead midway through the first half when Kevin Bracks nipped in to net a Steven Devine cross
from close range. But, two minutes from the break, Alan McAllister levelled after he buried a low shot past keeper Kenny Malcolm's right. The home side's deserved winner came 19 minutes from the end when Stuart Brown and Kenny Malcolm were culpable in allowing Andy Kirk's low-driven corner to cross the line at the near post.

Ballingry Rovers 2 Bonnyrigg Rose 1 TAKING the Super League scalp of Bonnyrigg must rank as the biggest result of Central Division Rovers' short history. Craig Smart, who signed on Friday from Cowdenbeath, put the Fifers ahead after 25 minutes, tucking home from close range after a Lee Dair corner caused confusion in the Rose defence. However, within five minutes the visitors were level, Sean Grady latching on to a through ball and firing home from the edge of the box. The decisive goal arrived on 57 minutes when Craig Coyle couldn't hold a James Adam shot and Lee Sutherland pounced to net the rebound.

DECHMONT FORKLIFT CUP
Pumpherston 0 Harthill Royal 0 Pumpherston won 4-2 on pens PUMPHERSTON reached the semi-finals after their shoot-out win. Harthill had had a penalty claim turned down when the ball appeared to strike the arm of Dean Fleming. Kenny Martin had a header saved by Gary Watson, then David Connelly's free kick was turned round the post by Maley. Pumpherston thought they had scored from a Stuart Cairn's shot that was cleared off the goal-line by Bonnar, the home side claiming that the ball had crossed, but the referee waved the appeal away. Maley came to the rescue in injury time pulling off two excellent saves from Lee Johnstone and then John Connelly. The game went to penalties and McIlhone, Quinn, Payne and Alan Dickov scored for Pumpherston. McCulloch and Dunsmore scored their penalties for Harthill, while Maley emerged was the hero after saving Connelly's and Johnstone's kicks.

PREMIER LEAGUE
Montrose Roselea 2 Musselburgh Athletic 0MUSSELBURGH'S promotion hopes were dealt a blow when they were beaten by Montrose Roselea in wind-swept conditions. The home side had the wind advantage in the first half and took the game to Musselburgh from the start. Musselburgh lost skipper Kenny Munro after only five minutes when he had to go off with an ankle injury. The home side took the lead after 18 minutes when full back Paul Whyte volleyed home from 16 yards out, and five minutes later they doubled their lead. A long kick out from keeper Ross McLeod deceived the Burgh central defence and Calum Watson got to the ball before the keeper to head home. In the second half, Musselburgh dominated the possession, but lacked composure in front of goal and never really threatened the Roselea goal. To round off a bad day for Musselburgh, Wes Mitchell was sent off in the last minute.

Arniston Rangers 1 Rosyth 1 ARNISTON dominated the early stages with Ryan McCallum and Paul McCluskey both missing good chances and Greg Logan producing a great save to keep out a close-in Dean Thornhill effort. When Rosyth began to get on top, Kieran Gratton missed an absolute sitter in the 23rd minute, but the goal was only delayed as, in the next attack, a Steve McAllister shot beat Stuart Baillie from 25 yards. The home side had more bad luck when the ball was cleared off the Rosyth goal-line following a corner from the left, but they equalised shortly afterwards when Mark Morrison headed into his own net while trying to clear another cross from the left. Play was even after the break and, in the end, a draw was a fair result.

SOUTH DIVISION
Newtongrange Star 2 Fauldhouse United 0 THREE valuable points for the Star as they push for promotion. Fauldhouse had a strong penalty claim waved aside in the opening three minutes and they were left to wonder what might have been as Newtongrange themselves took the lead from the penalty spot in the 20th minute, John Dunn making no mistake. On the hour mark Newtongrange doubled their advantage when Grant Meanie kneed the ball into the net to clinch the points.

Haddington Athletic 3 Livingston United 1 HADDINGTON enjoyed the majority of the play in a goalless first half, but found bottom-of-the-table Livingston in resilient mood with goalkeeper Peter Baxter keeping them at bay with some excellent stops. The visitors were finally beaten after 56 minutes in freakish fashion when, from a goal-line clearance, the ball struck John Lyon on the back and flew over Baxter's head and into the net for an unfortunate own goal. Nine minutes later, Alex Finlayson made it 2-0 with a composed finish from a fine David Anderson cross, and, seven minutes from the end, Anderson himself got a third goal finishing confidently after a run from the halfway line. Stevie Dunn pulled a goal back for Livingston in injury time.

Dalkeith Thistle 0 Sauchie 3 DALKEITH were unable to combat the power and pace of South League leaders Sauchie. Against the wind a two goal interval lead was poor reward for their supremacy. On 32 minutes John Jeffrey's cutback found Michael Daly. He shot inside the post. Near to half-time Jeffrey put Sauchie two ahead. Daly used his strength to beat John Wightman and cross to the back post for Jeffrey to fire the ball home. Dalkeith made three changes, but they were unable to change the pattern of play. In the final minute Sauchie captain Steven Kicynski shot home from a corner.
