GUDJON THORDARSON is one of three names on Vladimir Romanov's shortlist for the Hearts managerial vacancy, and the Evening News can reveal that Slovakian Vladimir Weiss and Belarussian Andrei Zygmantovich are the others.
Contrary to reports there will be no unveiling of a new manager at Tynecastle tomorrow with all three contenders due for further talks. Thordarson is currently in charge of IA Akranes in Iceland. He has been previously linked with Hearts and would be keen to employ Scotland assistant Terry Butcher as part of his managerial team.

However, as yet there has been no official approach by the Jambos to his club. Toddy Gudjonsson, the Akranes chief executive who is also Thordarson's son, said today: "Of course, we heard about this in the winter.

"However we haven't heard anything about this since and there hasn't been an approach at all. This is the first I've heard of it again, this morning."

Thordarson can point to previous experience of British football with Stoke City and has earned himself a reputation as a strict disciplinarian.

The Icelander had been set to become caretaker boss of Hibs in 2004, but made a dramatic U-turn on the day he was going to sign and the job later went to Tony Mowbray.

As Romanov keeps his options open, Hearts have also approached Artmedia Bratislava coach Weiss as a potential candidate for the position.

The 43-year-old Slovakian has emerged as a surprise contender and is extremely keen on the prospect of defecting to Scotland. However, Artmedia officials maintain that further talks with Romanov are essential before they would consider allowing their head coach to leave.

Speaking exclusively to the Evening News, Artmedia general manager Petr Kaspar confirmed: "Hearts are interested in our manager and we have already had some talks with them, but nothing is finalised yet. I will try to talk more with Mr Romanov this week. Mr Weiss is very interested in becoming the manager of Hearts, he realises they are a big club in the Scottish Premier League but we will need more discussions with their people first."

Weiss guided the club to a league and cup double last season, winning the championship by an 11-point margin.

He also masterminded Artmedia's 5-0 annihilation of Celtic three years ago in a Champions League qualifier, eventually eliminating Gordon Strachan's side 5-4 on aggregate.

He is known to speak some English but is not fluent and has no experience of UK football.

He does speak good Russian, however, having managed Saturn Ramenskoye in Moscow, which will appeal to Romanov.

Zygmantovich remains an outside bet having worked previously for Romanov at both of his eastern European clubs, MTZ Ripo and FBK Kaunas.

The majority shareholder is keen to recruit a new manager before the end of the month to allow pre-season training to commence under a permanent appointment.

For fluff's sake Vlad if you appoint another non-English speaking Eastern European diddy then you will have riots! This is not what we were promised and you will not get away with another puppet appointment... this would be the VERY final straw for me.

Out of the above candidates I would not even entertain the two Eastern Europeans for 1 second and the Icelandic boy would be a destinctly underwhelming and disapointing appointment.

Managers from RIPO!... A coach with no British experience and no grasp of English... FU**ING WELL FORGET THAT YOU CHEAP, UNAMBITIOUS, P155 TAKING PR!CK!

I'll tell you why i agree with him, because if we get another Angel Chervenkov type then we will have a repeat of the unacceptable, embarassing, humiliating, disgracefull, frustrating, p155 poor, passionless, pedestrian, laughing-stock football that we were TREATED to this year!

Tabloids are reporting that GUDJON THORDARSON is a done deal and will be unveiled tomorrow along with his assistant TERRY BUTCHER!

If this is in fact true ... and i'm more inclined to believe them than this banderson idiot (kickback trawler!) then I will also be distinctly underwhelmed... although Butcher would be excellent at kicking the backsides of some of our fat, lazy and overpaid 'superstars'... However it still doesn't make me want to rush out and get my ST!

Before the Hobos start going on about our prospective new manager being a hibs reject... HE declined their offer of a managerial position for part of the season on a trial basis!

Vlad you have yet again let down the fans.

Neither of these candidates are what is needed at Tynecastle and i will be majorly p155ed off if this is the extent of Vlad's ambition for the season... Why the hell does he persist with these ridiculous eastern european coaches who have no understanding of what is required to coach an SPL team... LISTEN UP VLAD... This will be suicide!

If these are the choices, then the Thordarson/Butcher combo seems preferable.

The Artmedia guy I've no idea about, but doesn't tick any of the boxes set out by Vlad at the start of the year. So I wouldn't be happy with that. I've said before, best man for the job doesn't really come into it for me, it's about Vlad sticking to his statement and an indication that he'll be keeping his nose out.

And as for the ex Ripo and Kaunas manager? He can f**k right off. Simple as.

#4 - Jamboy,

Concur with your sentiments.

This is not what we were promised. Hearts fans do not want another Eastern European coach with limited or no spoken English.

This is not what was promised when the club announced on 1 January that they were seeking to appoint a manager with full control of team affairs etc. The prerequisite was a knowledge and experience of "British Football".

As a season ticket holder who has already renewed I will go along next year. I must say however that this is not progress. Hearts have declined year on year since the team of Burley in 2005. Vlad must simply deliver in accorance with his original claimed intention or declare his intention to seek a buyer for the club.

A tenure which is going backwards year or year rather than displaying no evident sign of progression in entirely unacceptable.

Mark McGhee was a positive move on the face of it. This is entirely the opposite.
16

Indigo Nightlight,

11/06/2008 11:56:52
the boy who has worked at Kaunas and Ripo should be a definite no. of the other two I far prefer the sound of the Artmedia manager to Thordarson. He took them to the group stages of the CL and knocked out Porto to qualify for the UEFA cup. Pretty decent track record.

I like the idea of the Icelandic boy with Butcher as number 2. Butcher knows Scottish football inside out and the Icelandic boy has a decent track record.

Certainly,

i would appoint a manager who fits into the following parameters...

MUST speak fluent English, Must have a clue what the SPl or a similar level of British football is all about, must have a proven track record in a British league, MUST know and have access to british players, MUST be able to command the respect of a Scottish dressing room and Must be given full control of team selection.

Davies, Jefferies, Levein, Graham, Boothroyd... ANYONE except another puppet from Vlad's less than impressive pyramid of mediocrity.

YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THIS SHORT LIST THEN I ASSUME?!?!?!???

Icelandic chaps record is VERY patchy. Nothing to write home about. Have a look on the Stoke board about their opinion of him. The football he plays is not pleasant on the eye at all. I dont expect Hibs/Brazil 70, but I do want to see the ball being played on the deck at some point.

The other chaps on the list are laughable with what we were told the criteria was on that famous New Years days statement.

A manager being appointed is not going to please everyone, but I cant help feeling terrible underwhelmed about any of these appointments.

They should just phone Butcherm, would settle for him more than any of the other names being put forward at present.

Vlads last chance with me, If he makes a Duran Duran of this, its my last season book.

Boothroyd - going to leave Watford for us? very much doubt that.
Davies - decent track record. Would be happy with him.
Jefferies - I'd be happy with him, but maybe a backwards step.

24

Spencer's Boy,

I said the day that McGhee backed out that this would happen. There was no way that Romanov would appoint a Scottish or British manager after that display of public rejection.

Difficult not to jump the gun here. On the face of it none of the 3 look ideal.

I find it amazing that 6 months of looking for a candidate have resulted in this shortlist.

Campbell Ogilvie in his position of Managing Director will have to look closely at himself here if any of the suggested come to fruition.

I think i would rather have Butcher on his own as opposed Thordarson's assistant.

I think this appointment has to be British. Football in this country is all about the blood and the passion but lacking the guile and skill of the football on the continent.

We were almost devoid of passion and skill for all of last season.

I will be gutted if we appoint one of these three guys.
34

Not being funny but why are the names not realistic for Hearts? With the wages being offered and Hearts potential (not forgotting the fact Levien and Jeffries are Hearts men) etc there is only one reason why these people wont touch the job..... Vlad.

And this despite the Jambos telling us for months that many big names would be interested.
35

Spencer's Boy,

11/06/2008 12:10:42
All this says to me is that Romanov is not listening to what the fans want.

He is also not listening to his senior staff at the club (Campbell Ogilvie etc) who are accutely aware of the type of background the fans are looking for, which is probably wide ranging but to a man excludes any Eastern European.

After a season of such embarrassing proportions the club have clearly learned absolutely nothing.

That is frightening quite frankly.

My biggest fear about the appointment will be that Vlad sets up another headless chicken council with Korobochka, and two coaches disagreeing with each other and then we will be treated to the shambles we had this season past all over again.

You have to say Romanov has reaped what he has sown though as it seems clear that no manager with an ounce of credibility will touch this job with a barge poll.

Hmmmmm!

Not exactly exciting names being mentioned for the Hearts post, however that said, now is the time to get someone in, to give him time to get the players that he wants and to start forming a team with a game plan.

It looks like it's going to be a gamble with the next manager, who will either have limited British football experience or none, but any new manager is a gamble.

The days of Hearts fans talking about big name managers and big named DOF's are well and truly over.

That is a poor attempt at defending what would be a poor appointment.

He's hardly been a success in British football has he.

I'd be happy to have Butcher as manager though. However i still can't believe Hearts have not approached Billy Davies if the club are serious about a British/British experienced manager.

Something tells me that the McGhee saga was just a Romanov smokescreen to say hey i've tried to get a British manager before appointing another yes man.

does anyone honestly think Banderson has actually seen a shortlist? or could he be speculating? could he be flowering up a non story with a negative tilt on it? since when did Romanov share definitive information with the media when he hasnt actually approached the club to speak to the manager?

No mug mate, just don't like being taken for one and if this turns out to be our ambition then I feel we are being taken as such.

I already made it clear I will give the new man a fair crack at the whip before I can judge him on performance but i would feel more of a MUG if i just sat silently while Vlad reneged on his promises of a British experienced manager and appointed another puppet.

yes I may be jumping the gun but as i said if this turns out to be another pyramid appointment then I will not be MUG enough to sit happily and forget that once again what Vlad has promised and what he has done are ashamadly out of sync'.

Please refrain from calling me a mug when I have been VERY patient so far but 6 months later if this is it then I will be raging!

"the Icelandic boy has a decent track record."

Errr, are we talking about the same bloke here?

Lets see his "track record"

Akranes - Who?
KR Reykjavic - Only heard of them because they play in Icelands capital
Iceland - Hardly world beaters but international experience I will grant you
Stoke - Top English club them arent they?
IK Start - Who?
Barnsley - Didnt he get the dan mack from them?
Notts County - Read stoke
Keflavik - Only reason I've heard of it is due to the large NATO base there

Plenty of "experience" but not exactly a world beater. Non - British as well, although if Terry Butcher came alongside him then this appointment would be far more appealing to the Hearts fans no doubt....

Having said that if the list of 3 given was accurate then he would be the best of the lot I s'pose.

If Vlad appoints one of the two Eastern Europeans then its probably fair to say that the puppet & fax machine show will continue for the foreseable future.

I said "decent" not "fantastic".

He's won a few titles in Iceland and got Stoke promoted. He also did well with the national team.

We're not going to get Capello, the boy is experienced and has done OK in the past.

I quite like the sound of the Slovakian to be honest. He's young, has a good track record so far and provided one of my favourite football moments when his team scudded Celtic 5-0.

Certainly a bit leftfield and I understand people no being happy about a non-British manager, but wouldn't write him off as useless.

I am saving to get engaged and married and for a holiday and i will not be stumping up season ticket cash this year mainly due to this so I am not the martyr I could claim if i was to say it is wholely down to the mess we are in.

I hate not buying a season ticket but when i don't i NEVER moan about unavailability of tickets. i have only ever not bought a season ticket in previous seasons for financial reasons but this is the first time during one of those times that i will feel less twitchy and annoyed at not having one... That is a sad thing for me to admit but it is how i now feel at the way we are being treated.

#94..... Likewise...

Come on though laddie hes hardly what you were looking for is he? No your not going to get Capello or any other big name but there has to be something better than this?

The problem here is most likely that Hearts have sounded out good quality British managers and all have asked the same question "Will I be given 100% control of the team without interfeerance form the owner?"

the answer to this question going by the "list" is glaringly obvious to me & by the looks of it most Hearts fans as well...

HOW CAN YOU "OUTLINE CONTINGENCY PLANS" AFTER THE EVENT ????????????????????????????????

Ah well - we will find out if either the Scotsman is slow to get to grips with the news compared to the Daily Record or if the Weegie paper men are liars.
The latter paper beat the Scotsman by two days to the Velicka "story" , but if Hearts do not announce tomorrow the Icelandic bloke as boss , the daily ranger will be proven liars , as they announced in headlines this morning - "Blah Blah .......tomorrow , WILL be announced as Hearts new boss".
As always - the smart money is on the record being full of liars.

To be fair, I just want us to appoint a Manager before pre-season starts. If it's the icelandic boy & butcher, then I'll be relatively happy. Anything has to be better than last season.

At least Butcher would kick a few backsides in the changing room.

Hi bud, would you be seriously happy if you end up with one of the Easter European managers? And would you not be in the slightest concerned that it spells a return to the Vlad picking the team policy (if indeed that ever changed).

I find it odd, it seems now that some Jambo's dont care who they get as long as they get someone.

re Mixu, not exactly over the moon with performances but not surprised or gutted either. He has only been there half a season and he wasnt exactly a disgrace. I'm happy to give him time to see what he can do with his own team. Obviously you Jambo's will never rate him, but you would probably suddenly not rate Ferguson if he had the Hibs job!

#112Stotty - Cant argue with that as any manager is better than no manager

#113CJ - I'll grant you the Iceland post he did OK in. However winning promotion and cups in Iceland is harldy world beating stuff though is it?

#116JT&T - The jury is out on Mixu with most Hibs fans (me included) but as someone remarked earlier we will give him the chance before condemming him & if he fails we will want him removed.

Regarding inexperienced managers then yes I would agree that Mixu has less but the club out of its previous two managers had one hit & one miss by going this way and again we will give Mixu time to see how his brand of football goes.

In general I agree with your post on this subject and you are right to say that even though "none of the above" may fit the promised criteria the outcome could be a pleasant surprise for Hearts fans.

What it all boils down to with hearts though is that of the 12 clubs who will play in the SPL next season 11 sets of fans can say quite honestly that they believe their clubs manager has control of the team selection & tactics and decides potential transfer targets before the board decide on those targets affordability. Whos the odd one out then?

Thats the real point here: all three look like they may be willing to tolerate Vlads meddeling ways and as I sadi before if its one of the two eastern europeans then the fax machine will continue to pick the team I'm afraid.

I agree, compared to Hearts our club is boring. That is becouse Hibs run like a football club, you know we appoint a manager, he picks the team, that kind of thing.

Not surprisingly, the rather strange method in which the Vlad one chooses to run his little play thing does bring up some decent talking points. In this sense, I am more than happy for Hibs to be boring!

All of a sudden Davies of Jefferies are looking mighty good - I'd give Jefferies or Davies an east european Assistant (but he would have to be a young coach with fluent english and a positive personality). That way Vlad could have his communication and we get a decent manager.

The Smith/McCoist partnership has been proved to work - you have the boss who is the hardass and the assistant that is everyone's mate....doubt if Butcher will be that - he didn't exactly impress when he went to Australia rencently - pretty much all the players hated him.

Everyone needs to calm down and stop all this knicker twisting until something real happens. The by all means twist yer knickers if you wish. Can I just highlight however that of the 3 that have been revealed from the short if true all have a more succesfull track record than Pantyliner. I never fail to be amazed by these articles.
How is it that although Mr Anderson is passing on the story, he never states where the information came from? We never seem to get the name of the Hearts spokesman who gave him the gen.If indeed he has been spoken to by HMFC why is the contact kept secret?
What prompted Mr Anderson to speak exclusively to the Artmedia General Manager?
Another point If Thordarson has not spoken to Hearts since last winter who is stating that he wants Butcher as his No 2?
Sorry but if we don't get a Manager within the next couple of days I think the whole thing is more stalling tactics. As ever the fans are being badly treated. In an earlier post Victor was wondering if the Scotsman or the Record has the correct story.
Until we hear a formal statement from a HMFC official I don't accept either version. (But remain hopeful.)

Mad Vlad has said that he would like someone in place before the start of pre season and i for one still think it will happen.

I tend to think it will be thorodson as new manager, despite how much i detest the out and out liar that calls himself a journalist banderson. I don't know how this guy is still in employment, inept isn't the word, he goes way beyond that!

Like every story he manufactures he goes looking for a response and it's usualy successful, this despite the club having nothing whatsoever to do with him. Perhaps the root cause of his obvious dark agenda towards Hearts.

I hate singling him out but his daily stories on Hearts and the intention of them annoys me when i think a proper journalist with a brain and a bit of a grasp on reality could be doing a much better job than him.

#180 Whoop-de-do. Who gives a monkeys about your wee team. That's the difference. We couldn't care less about Hibs but you lot couldn't care more about Hearts.

Qualified manager - aye maybe but not quality. Anyway, a qualified manager guarantees you what exactly?

Ability to finish in top 6 - as does every team that starts the league next season.

Long term future - we'll it's complete conjecture to suggest we don't. Plenty of other teams have had the same debt as us and are still around so keep dreaming!

Class & dignity?!! - aye, maybe your board does - shame about 1/2 your former players and fans though! Agreed, big Vlad doesn't seem to have much but that's nothing we can control.

Fax machine - boring. Didn't see you laughing when our "fax machine" pumped you consistently over the last 3 seasons!
Unsustainable debt - see above comment on debt
Our owner "bragged" about CL success not the fans.
Clum - you score a point there - congratulations. He's gash - i don't care!

Hearts won't get a decent boss because as your Chairman Roman has already clearly stated a while back, "daddy might give a manager 30% or if he really likes him 40% input into picking the team". Still it's good to see Vlad is trying to keep our fine British traditions alive Morcombe and Wise, Cannon and Ball and Zygmantovich and Malofeev.

You are never going to attract a manager you will be happy with until you realise where your club fits in the SPL food chain ie. middle...ish.

Banter aside, one thing I find incredible is that 2 of the best managers in our League (Levein & Jeffries) are Hearts legend, yet it would appear they have not even been approached. The only conclusion I can come to is that Vlad quite simply is not prepared to give full control over.

One name not mentioned is Gary Mcallister. Seems to be doing a good job with limited recources at Leeds.

Taking it a bit personal. Its exactly the same with Hearts fans. Mowbray was useless, until he left Hibs. Collins was useless, until he left Hibs, then he strangely became the new Jock Stein!? Now Mixu is useless, even though he has been at Hibs for half a season.

In fairness, when McGhee was being talked about myself and other Hibees were happy to say it would be a good appointment for you. These 3 names being mentioned are not exactly mouth watering though are they?

Thats the problem you guys have mate. Under normal circumstances you have to assume that either of the managers would jump at the chance to manage Hearts again. Its not as if they are at bigger clubs just now. Be a bit like Yogi knocking back Hibs to stay at Falkirk.

All I was saying was that we don't exactly cover ourselves with glory in the "Cup/league" stakes do we, neither of the two teams.

#214 Dave Lenny is quite possibly right in what he says, Vlad may not be prepared to give up his control, although my main thoughts on these two are that they have been at Hearts before and he, Romanov, would not want to take backward step. I personally would welcome either of them back.

Vincent Vega,

This is a Stoke's fan of the Icelandic Boss who seems to be on his way to Tynecastle, after his spell at the Potters.

Afternoon Jambos.

We hear on our forum http://oatcakefanzine.proboards27.co...?board=Potters that Mr G is possibly on his way to Tynecastle. Let's just say you'll get 'a character'- but maybe you've had enough of them in recent years?

Our perspective and some facts:

Mr G (as he asked us to call him) had teams that occasionally played very, very good passing football but occasionally played absolute ***** too.

He had a very strange idea that 3-5-2 would work in every game, no matter what the score was. After the Stoke crowd chanted 4-4-2 at him for a couple of weeks, he changed it a bit and we looked a bit better.

We rarely looked up for a local derby with Port Vale (RIP) when he was in charge.

He brought in a couple of immense players- namely Iceland midfielder Brynjar Gunnarsson (now at Reading), Belarus captain Sergei Shtaniuk from Dynamo Minsk and Peter Hoekstra, formerly of Ajax.

When he got us promoted, (2001-2) we were by and large lucky that season and pretty unconvincing for the most part- but we beat Cardiff away in the play off semi's which is fondly remembered as one of our best performances in recent years.

He has a history of falling out with Chairmen- he was sacked from us for reasons which have not become fully clear yet, the rumour was though that he HAD to go.

After his sacking he held an impromptu address to his fans in the car park of the stadium. On a loud hailer he declared 'the chairman is an arsehole'

He is a recovering alcoholic.

Apparently he has 9 kids by 3 different wives and three boys are pro football players, Bjarni Gudjonsson (Stoke, Bochum, Genk, Plymouth Coventry), Toddy Gudjonsson (Bochum, Genk, Stoke) and Joey (Leicester, Burnley, Wolves)

A rumour followed him from Iceland to Stoke that unless his team upped their performance after half time, he'd go round their houses and sh*g
218

Lenny,

Johnny Jambo,

219

May 16 1998,

The statement released on new years day clearly stated full control of team affairs and the search was on.
Nothing much else said on it and when Frail was handed the caretaker position you would think a full time coach had to have been lined up. McGhee was the obvious choice but to not have had a plan B or C just seems like it's all been taken lightly and no consideration for us, the paying fans yet again!
Unless he was hoping to appoint Frail to the job after doing well and didn't need to look, or has tried with a few which have been unreported seems like bad management to me.

All we can do is wait and see but i'm hopeful, even after so long a manager of some substance will be appointed and the club can get moving forward again.
220

Vincent Vega,

11/06/2008 16:27:14
Continued

A rumour followed him from Iceland to Stoke that unless his team upped their performance after half time, he'd go round their houses and sh*g their wives! Dunno how the game finished though....

He won us our first trophy since 1972, the Auto Windscreens Shield (wow!) by beating Bristol City 2-1 at Wembley in front of 75,000.

His Stoke team also lost 8-0 at home to Liverpool in the Carling Cup. We did have something like 19 goal attempts though...(groan)

I personally like him and hope he does well for you. Very funny character and very down to Earth- but beware speaking his mind- mad Vlad doesn't seem the forgiving type.

Nothing is a suprise with romanov, he said we would have world cup stars and a top class manager 2 years ago. Did it happen! Now he says he wants a manager with brittish experience and then shortlists 2 eastern europeans with none. He's running the club into the ground, squeezing every last penny out of it and laughing at us while he does it. The fans stood up to the pieman but seem afraid to let romanov hear their voice.

Lou, i dont think that letting Vlad "hear our voice" will do any good as he is never at hearts nowadays. The best way to deal with the likes of our crazy leader is to hit him in the pocket, this is why i have not renewed my ST and wont until i see some radical changes at the club. I understand why some people have renewed and thats fine BUT these are the same people who moan about the things he does yet still line his DEEEEP pockets.

The current manager situation has been knocked back a few steps by the way MM publicly slapped romanov.
235

Micropacer,

11/06/2008 17:08:47
Romanov promised a British manager and no interference.

If the manager isnt going to be as promised then I think you can safely assume that the "no interference" is rubbish aswell.

Infact I think the problem probably is that there isnt many British managers will work under such circumstances which is why you will end up with a 3rd rate foreigner.

Hearts fans have been sleepwalking into oblivion. We are called the Sheep but I think its more apt for a lot of Jambos these days - or maybe the Lemmings?

With many Rangers fans getting ready to trash part of Germany , many of these troglodytes should be getting their legal matters in order prior to meeting some unfriendly German footer fans of the type that have recently been arrested at Euro 2008 for rioting , along with nazi chants and banners.
Maybe thats why very few are on here today.

Not that any of you FFFHibees care , but I posted that Pantyliner was a good solid signing when he got the Irish - sorry - FFFHibs job. Once again Vlad has reverted to type. All the publicity re British coach--McGhee Levein etc. is his usual smoke and mirrors. What odds the guy from Bellaraus gets the job? He's worked for Vlad before and is probably another puppet. I hold my hands up and admit that it took me a long time to give up backing Vlad, but after decades as a season ticket holder and having missed only two seasons due to army service abroad since I started following the Jambos I said that I would not set foot in Tynie again until a British coach with a proven track record was appointed, and though it breaks my heart no pun intended-- I will stick to that. I've seen worse Hearts teams, and stuck by them thro' relegation and all the bad years, but have never seen the club I love being destroyed in this way. Also don't expect the new stand to start either any time soon.Good luck to all you guys who have renewed, but this is the only way I can show my disgust

True supporters are not ones who blindly buy season tickets, they are ones with clubs best interests at heart and will take actions, such as sending a message to Vlad by not buying STs.

Hearts have been let down by a reported 9,000.

He also suffers badly from wee man/big man syndrome, which is understandable because he is actually smaller than he looks.

WHAT...Scholari going to Chelski.....But his bags where on the plane....oh well

287 who are you a a gay poet??

"You are so easy to rile. There's not even any need to cast a lure, any more"

A gay poet who doesn't know a tri-tournement is between 3 clubs, not 4!!

#276 BH, your posts made me think of Gerald Ratner and his infamous "our jewellery is cr*p" comment. It seems that some guys are good at setting up a business, but not smart enough to take advice on how to run it properly once it gets beyond a certain size.

In Vlad's case, it seems that H****s (sorry, just can't type it!) were the bit that made it too big to handle.

p.s. that last sentence DOES NOT mean I think you're a big team :-)

It is sad people write love letters to each other on here when football match in great Euro 2008 is playing.

But then they are not football fans, as they are Hearts supporters!

I am icelandic and i heard about this "comment" area, and i just wanted to let you know a thourough track record for Gudjon Thordarson.

He played football in iceland for his home town IA Akranes. He has the most played games for that club.

He started managing IA in 1989.
Then went to KA, and won the icelandic chamipinship. (This being the only cup this team has ever won)
Then returning to IA who had been relagated the previous year, and won promotion and the following year also won the championship.
Then in 1993-5 seasons he managed KA and won two league cups.
Then returning to IA Akranes to win all the possible cups apart from the European cup, however, he did beat Fayenoord in iceland, and also gave Everton trouble in the qualification rounds.
After this he took the Icelandic national team. He is very much missed in that possition for no other manager has had the team play as well. He managed to make the Icelandic team, get a 1-0 lead over the newly crowned world champions France, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Then in France after being 2-0 down at half time, Iceland came back to 2-2 in the second half, only to lose in the 94' minute 3-2. If the score would have been 2-2, Iceland would have nocked France out of Euro 2000.
But in november 1999, He took Stoke City, and in this first season he won the Auto Windscreen Cup. And got into the play-offs. Next season he also got into the play-offs, but did not win. In his final season at Stoke he won promotion with a very international based squad, and since he came, the avarage attendance was raised by what i think was just over 3500 per home game.
After the Stoke regin, he went to Norway for a part time just to try to save a club from relagation.
Then going to Barnsley, and in the middle of the season, there was a takeover by Peter Richdale (Former Leeds owner) who then appointed a friend as a manager. However Gudjon did part with the club in a play-off position.
He then went to Keflavík in Iceland, bu

As the Bible says:

"The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, while the heart of the fool is in the house of entertainment. •Bible Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat."

The Lord will ensure that our club will pay off debt and move to new heights.

Please all pray tonight that our club can rise above the slurs of the unbelievers.

Sorry my comment did not fit all in one box, but to keep it short he quit his job at Keflavík to take Notts County for one year.
He then returned to Iceland to take relegation faivorites and get them to finish in 3rd place, and therefor into European football.
