Ronaldson spearheads Sighthill bid for county glory

EDINBURGH champs Sighthill launch their bid for the Roofline Scotland-sponsored Scottish Inter County Top Ten bowls title tomorrow with home green advantage over Angus side Abbey in the prelim round, writes STEWART MEIKLE.
The Sighthill challenge is spearheaded by Jason Ronaldson in the Singles and his confidence will have beeen boosted by a debut for Edinburgh & Leith in this afternoon's Scottish Counties Championship.

David Campbell skips Graeme Eddington in the
Pairs while David Connelly, Graham Wood, and Paul Noble carry the banner in the Triples. The Rink comprises Stuart Isbister, Stuart Smith, Colin Smith, and Alan Scott.

Gold medal bowler David Peacock is the ace in the Danderhall pack when the Midlothian champions line up at home against Annan of Dumfriesshire.

West Barns (East Lothian) and Broxburn (West Lothian) have byes through to the first round proper.

Last nights action in the Water of Leith League saw Bainfield grab the First Sixteen headlines with a magnificent 5-0 away win over Balerno and after three matches they have 10 points and share top place with Carrick Knowe.

Carrick Knowe had a 4-1 home win over Slateford, who had been going great guns with opening wins over Beechwood (4-1) and Sighthill (4½-½).

Last season's champions Sighthill fianlly got on the winning track with an impressive 4-1 away win over Gorgie Mills.

Juniper Green edged a 3-2 away win over Beechwood and, having defeated Bainfield 4-1 in their opening match, Currie recorded a 3½-1½ home win over Colinton.
