TOMORROW sees the first round of the East of Scotland Cup, a competition second only to the Scottish Junior Cup in terms of entrant numbers.
The pick of the 32 ties sees Linlithgow Rose face a tricky tie at Montrose Roselea. Linlithgow are one of the favourites for the competition because of their recent history in big cup events. The Prestonfield outfit have had a stuttering start to the season but last week finally found their way to goal.

Carnoustie Panmure play hosts to Whitburn while in another tie that takes a Lothian side to Tayside, Premier League side Arniston Rangers have the chance to gauge for themselves if they are promotion contenders when they face Dundee side Lochee United. It'll be a severe test for Arniston's young squad but one they need at this stage of the season.

Newly-promoted Newtongrange will be just a mile or two away as they play Broughty Athletic in what promises to be cracking cup tie.

East Super league leaders Musselburgh, meanwhile, have a short trip along the East Lothian coast to South Division side Haddington.

Bathgate are at City Park in the Capital where they will tackle the East Juniors' newest recruits, Spartans.

Intetresting how Tranent, East Lothian team and top of the South Division at the moment, are away to Superleague opposition in Hill o' Beath Hawthorn and yet this tie is not worthy of a mention!

Anyway, c'mon the Belters! Getting used to playing away games now!!

Personally I would have thought that Carnoustie v Whitburn was the "pick" of the ties. Two recent Scottish cup winners, and a superleague team against a team who were recently in the Superleague.
Or Forfar West End v Glenrothes, Superleague team against the team relegated from the Superleague.
Or Haddington v Musselburgh, a local derby.
Or even Spartans v Bathgate given that Spartans are the new Junior team and the tie should generate some interest.

You need to take off your Rose tinted glasses, John.
