Published Date: 14 October 2008
HIBS boss Mixu Paatelainen will today resume his search for a goalkeeper after deciding not to offer Khalid Sinouh a deal.
Paatelainen is keen to strengthen the goalkeeping position, where Yves Ma-Kalambay and Andy McNeil currently battle it out for the gloves, and has had a number of trialists at the club over the past few months.

Amsterdam-born stopper Sinouh had spent the last two weeks on trial at Hibs and played the full 90 minutes of a closed-doors game last week.

However, Paatelainen spoke with the Moroccan internationalist today to tell him that he would not be pursuing his interest.

The Hibs manager said: "We decided not to offer Khalid a contract. We thanked him for coming over and spending nearly two weeks with us but we just felt that he wasn't the one that we wanted. I am sure that he will find a club and is more than capable of playing at a good level.

"The goalkeepers who are already at our club are very good and I will not make hasty decisions. If the right keeper comes along then that is great but if not, I know that we have two boys here who are more than capable and have done well for us.

"There is no point in bringing someone in just to add to the squad for the sake of it."

Paatelainen will wait this week to assess Chris Hogg after the defender returned to training following problems with headaches and his vision, although Alan O'Brien and Kevin McCann have already been ruled out of Sunday's Edinburgh derby.

#1 and #2

Shut up !!!!

Last time we were this confident going into a derby we were left with egg on our faces.
Were you at the last few games ? , a non existent midfield , a system that does not work and a manager without a clue.
Our only hope is up front , but they can do nothing without the service.
I would be worried.

This goal keeper mus have been awfull for Hibs not to sign him!

#1 + 2

Your confidence makes me laugh, do you really think you are that good? We are not the best but neither are you. It's a derby and anything can happen, you are spouting off about winning 3-0 or 7-0 which is very amusing. Take note of #3, your confidence is bound to come back and haunt you!

#3 HIBEES FOREVER

Why shutup. Good fun predicting the score. Personally I am sticking with my forecast of last week ie. 15 - 0 to Hibs. I just think that #1 & #2 have no faith in the team.

I've been at all the home games and I saw the Aberdeen game and your right about the midfield. Against Aberdeen it looked like it was coming together at last. Thicot played well and held the line together.
However, if Mixu reverts to type and reintroduces Keenan and Hogg I can see us losing the midfield and shipping goals at the back.

So, lets see the forecasts coming in the more the merrir. Unless you think we can have some influence on the game by predicting the score. Tempting fate, so to speak. Or are you afraid of the Hearts supporters if we lose?

Be a man! Stand up for your team. Be confident. Be a Hibby.

'sneak up behind Rob Jones and shout giving him a fright'!!!!!

I have a hunch the pantomine season could come early at Easter rd.

Just to let everyone know. I have reported as unsuitable a comment on another thread which used the word Mong.

I have suggested that, as it is offensive to all decent people, that it should be barred.

So, all you intellectual giants who use this expression, (Not many but there are a few) will have to find some other means of getting your point across.

Hopefully.

Good to see MIxu is not panic buying a keeper. Maybe a wake up call for big Maka to keep working on improving his game.

Makalamby was excellent against Aberdeen.

Was this related to the fact that he had a reliable defence in front of him for the 1st time this season?

As long as Maka is under strict instructions from Mixu not to frighten Jones, then I can see our defence, wuth Bamba and Jones in the middle, keeping a clean sheet.

At the other end, I don't believe it matters who Hearts play in defence we will score.

#21 Brett... you really are struggling.

FACTS :KELLO played 7 lost 9 Average goals lost 1.29
MAKA: played 6 lost 8 Ave. goals lost 1.33
if we are going to be statistically pedantic Maka is 3% worse than Kello.
Now as i know you & bubblin are not the brightest i will point out that i only point out the foregoing to highlight the fact that you are a couple of knobheads & fully realise that stats(although correct)do not 'identify' the BEST keeper.
Then again slightly more relivant than goals scored/points gained brett!!!!

And i have not mentioned big Maka sneaking up on Jonesy & frightening the sht out of him. Sorry the nearer we get to sunday the more i feel it will be Panto time at easter Rd again.

Now try and not get personel(no worse than knobhead) in your response as i am only having a laugh.

If you go back over the last 9 years of derbies at ER (to go any further back is not relevent). There have been 17 games, Hibs have won 7, Hearts have won 3 and 7 draws. So in recent times you have only won 3 times at ER, not that great a record. I think that mainly because of our firepower up front Hibs should win this weekend but would not be surprised if Hearts won.

C'mon son, give it a rest, eh? There is no need or call for that kind of behaviour on a public forum.

You are one very sick, bitter, twisted person. No matter what name you use the hatred is still there.

Do us all a favour and keep that trap of yours shut - before someone else shuts it for you.

Got home sozzeled after the scotland game and said a few untoward words, but its baw bags like skullbuggery that get the blood boiling. I wonder what his words will be next week if HEARTS run out and win 2-0. We will either hear from him in 2 OR 3 months before the next derby, or he will post from a different name.

However stats confirm unbeaten in two at ER.

On a serious note : although Fletcher/Nish are decent players i am only worried about Riordan.Hopefully we will control the middle of the park & starve your front men .

Hibs correctly favourites but 2/1 Hearts generous odds and i have every intention of carrying on my sponsorship of Labrokes by incl Hearts in my accumulator.
