Published Date: 25 July 2008
CSABA LASZLO hopes to identify fresh talent from a familiar source next week by attending FBK Kaunas' Champions League qualifier against Rangers to unearth potential new players for Hearts.
Several members of the Tynecastle squad are already on loan from the Lithuanian club, which, like Hearts, is financed by Vladimir Romanov's Ukio Bankas Investment Group. Laszlo will investigate the possibility of bringing more Kaunas players to Edinb
urgh by watching them at Ibrox next week.

He explained that any decision will be taken in tandem with Romanov, but ultimately believes that Kaunas progressing in European competition should only be viewed positively by Hearts. "I give my proposals and in the next two or three days I think we will have success and we can present two or maybe three players," said the manager when questioned on new signings.

"I would like to see Kaunas against Rangers and if it's possible and we see they have a very good player, maybe we can bring him to Hearts. This is the philosophy we have. If we see in a game a player who is possible to transfer to Hearts, we do it. We want to be back in the UEFA Cup so we must do everything possible.

"We are making big progress. I want to play successful football. The owner is always satisfied if his team wins and Kaunas are in the next round of the Champions League qualifiers, so congratulations to them. I hope they can be successful against Rangers, this is good for us. A lot of people talk about Mr Romanov but we decide together. We will sit together and hopefully soon we will have a result to present to everybody. It's important to bring a young, hungry player who is not so satisfied and will play to become better. This is the type of player I need at the club, not someone who wants to come to Hearts to finish his career.

"If Mr Romanov has an idea, he calls me. Even the other day he told me, 'this is my idea. Come, we'll sit together and discuss it'. This is fantastic. At the moment the relationship is very like family, we have a very good harmony even in the technical team. We won't go behind anybody and we won't talk badly about anybody. If we have a problem, we will discuss it together and after everybody can smile.

"This is maybe my most important job, to keep this attitude from everybody."

#1 Ah Lenny - too many threads to cover; too much good news to counter. I think the SPL Team are drowning in their own hubris.

What BA writes is "Laszlo will investigate the possibility of bringing more Kaunas players to Edinburgh." (Plural)

What Lazlo actually said was "I would like to see Kaunas against Rangers and if it's possible and we see they have a very good player, maybe we can bring him to Hearts." (Singular)

Anyway, could be a 'Gers player? ;o)

i read it as the manager STILL has to ASK Romanov EVERYTHING, he is not allowed to do ANYTHING himself, and he has ACCEPTED this, thats a bit sad. The boy he will be watching is the left footed Brazilian set piece specialist, a cheap nakamura, i think his name is Ledesma, could be wrong, but he is their best player. Why doesnt he come in for Cousin, Burke, McCulloch, Adam or Christian Dailly, we need rid, Hearts need players....i know they are not good enough for the Jambos either!

big clubs and good clubs find portuguese passports for all these brazilians across europe.or you can wrangle a work permit for someone who doesnt deserve it like Celt*c.

#8 Different countries have different rules on whether foreigners can work there. It may be that the Lithuanian government aren't as strict as the UK, or indeed he may have a European passport of some sort.

#10 He's just looking. Makes sense really, if there's any players he fancies at Kaunas he knows he can get them, if there's not then no harm done. Or, at least, that's how it should work...

Get to fluff vlad... these guys are not... repeat NOT GOOD ENOUGH! For god's sake have you learned nothing you complete and utter moron!

How many Barasas, Kurskis', Philibitis', Kancelskis' etc do we have to carry before you realise that you cannot just take a poor player and make him good... you can improve on an already decent player who has potential but you cannot polish a t*rd!

We already have a bunch of Kauno players and none of them are good enough to be first picks... the only one that was you sold to rangers via Egil Ostenstaad.

STOP THIS FLUFFING STUPID CONCEPT NOW!!!!! IT WILL NOT WORK, WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CARRY PLAYERS AND IF YOU CONTINUE TO SUB GUYS LIKE KINGSTON IN FAVOUR OF IVASKEVICIUS WE WILL LOSE THE DRESSING ROOM ALL OVER AGAIN AND NEVER KICK ON!

STOP FU**ING MEDDLING YOU STUPID PR**K!!!

Do you believe your second paragraph?... Miko for top goal scorer Skacel? that doesn't start alarm bells?... The German coach talking about how a certain ratio of players were going to have to come from Kaunas when he was interviewed... that doesn't worry you?

IVASKEVICIUS, PILLYBITER, KANCELSKIS, KURSKIS, BENNIUSIS, JANKAUSKAS?????

I AM GUTTED ABOUT THIS AND SEE IT AS A LARGE PART OF THE REASON WE WERE P15H LAST SEASON!
14

JANNY WAS MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH, VELICKA WAS MORE THAN GOOD ENOUGH, THERE HAVE BEEN AND STILL ARE SCOTTISH PLAYERS AT HEARTS THAT WILL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH

#13 Me?
Yes. Yes I do.

I wouldn't be happy if another half dozen guys turned up on the last day of the transfer window, obviously. But, when it comes down to it, we can have any player from Kaunas that we want - so I think the new manager should look at the players to see if there's anyone worth having.
I don't know the Kaunas players, so don't know if they are good enough for Hearts, that's up to the manager. As long as Csaba is making the decision of whether any players come over, and which ones they are, then there's nothing to worry about in my view.
16

Peeblesjambo,

Peebles 25/07/2008 13:24:45
Raeding betweem the lines it is Csaba who will have the final say on players, sepcifically from Kaunus. If they are of quality and teh fit into the plan, the nethey will be considered. Seems reasonable to me.

Too many cynics with a negative outlook on everything Romanov.
17

Jamboy,,

edinburgh 25/07/2008 13:27:17
Janny: Good enough but unsettled the team.

Velicka: Good enough and allowed to move on when we had no more goalscores.

And for every one of those guys we have "IVASKEVICIUS, PILLYBITER, KANCELSKIS, KURSKIS, BENNIUSIS"

Are you kidding me?
18

Jamboy,,

Edinburgh 25/07/2008 13:32:17
The problem is that these guys were getting the nod over players that were better than they were and we were being treated like mugs when we were told that it was a rotation policy... the reason it was a rotation policy was because there was no way on earth that a Ketstutis ivaskevicius would ever do enough to merit a place in the team unless he was just 'given a turn'.

I am gutted that we still have Ivaskevicius at the club, let alone looking at more guys to import.

How can a guy who has done mothing be allowed to stay when Velicka is moved on when we had no cover? this is not for the good of the club.
19

UrbanFox,

Edinburgh 25/07/2008 13:35:36
Oh No. Here we go again. Yes Mr Romanov. No Mr Romanov. Just send a fax Mr Romanov.

Kaunas rubbish all over again. I hope Rangers absolutely stuff them.
20

Jamboy,,

Edinburgh 25/07/2008 13:38:11
At the moment it is csaba who gets the final say... What happens when he is honest and doesn't play the regulation three lithuanians required for the game to be shown in lithuania? vlad recomends that they get a game and he says... but they are not good enough... You don't think Vlad will have the final say?

If vlad could honestly try and justify dropping Skacel for Miko then I expect to see yet more benniusis' being given the nod at the expense of our performances.

I am gutted about this, i hope i am wrong and you are all right and i will be happy to admit i was wrong but this is a terrible sign in my opinion.

If there are good players there then this will work but if there is not then we will have them foisted on us anyway in my opinion...
21

chazbud,

25/07/2008 13:38:20
every big club has a good squad of between 22-30 players max, Hearts have a squad list of about 67 at the last count, they should be trying to get rid of all the loanees, sell the dross and keep the best 20 then buy 3 or 4 BETTER players to add to the squad, romanov brung the duds in, he should pay them off too, AND

the only way to get rid of this guy is to vote with yer feet, just dont go to the games, by filling tyney you are telling him you are happy, YOU HAVE TO SPEAK LOUDER jambos, dont be afraid that there will be no one there to help you when hes gone, there will ALWAYS be someone there to help Hearts FC.

No you are missing the point completely! Will you stop talking about getting rid of vlad for god's sake... THAT IS NOT THE ANSWER!!!

WE WOULD FOLD IF VLAD LEFT BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN I WILL JUST SHUT UP AND PRETEND EVERYTHING IS GOOD WHEN I SEE STORIES LIKE THIS ONE!

THIS IS A STUPID IDEA BUT VLAD PULLING OUT AND WANTING HIS DEBT PAID WOULD BE A DISASTER!

The suns's shining, it's Friday afternoon, it's Beer minus three hours. Calm down and wait for Vlad to balls it all up again before doing your duster.

#24 rubbish, like i say, you believe what you read in the papers, do what we do, dont buy them, dont read them and dont belive them, there is a green part of Scotland who would love to see Rangers and Hearts disappear, fingers in every hole, the scary stories of hearts going out of business are not true, dramatisation, good news, If Romanov went he CANT ask for all the debt right away, there are contracts, payment schemes, everything in place, Hearts FC have enough people who love them, that would look after them, and you say VLAD is not the problem, im afraid he is the CORE problem, it is his idea to bring in poor poor players to Hearts its his idea to sack so many managers, its his idea NOT to help Hearts when clearly they need help on the pitch.Hes a joke and helping Celt*c, giving away Hartley and Pressley was a bigger joke, when did teams start helping other teams in their leagues when they have ambitions to challenge them?

I reside in Saughton.

#24 Jamboy - I agree with your take on this. It doesn't sound too good, does it?

As you pointed out in #13, we've already heard about the "The German coach talking about how a certain ratio of players were going to have to come from Kaunas when he was interviewed...".

If Laszlo has taken the job on this basis, then shame on him.

BUT - it is only an EEN story. We must hope it is no more than a "story"...

Graham,

Look mate this was my chief concern before we got csaba in and it was my biggest problem last year.

I was pretty happy about the way things were looking but this is awfull news to me.

I said i hope I am wrong but i am just totaly deflated by this.

Kurskis getting a game before banks?
Benni in that first derby of the season?
Ivaskevicius... Just in general...Ivaskevicius?
Barasa?
Kancelskis?
Miko for Skacel?
Zaliukas in midfield instead of our many midfielders?

I am all for celebrating the good things but i refuse to pretend that the bad things are not a problem.

These guys were getting a game because of their nationality and nothing else.

Look mate I am furious about the Kaunas thing but Vlad leaving would burry this club.

We have to hope he gets us a new stand, reduces the debt and then sells us to someone else when we are a viable business again with a small debt and a completed stadium... to get rid off him now would be the end of hearts.

Unfortunately we have to suffer these ridiculous clashes of priority in the meantime and hope that it doesn't do too much damage while the stand is built and the debt reduced.
31

GrahamL,

#29 I'm not defending any of those things you listed. At all.
But the signs in the last couple of weeks have been that things have changed. And looking at what Csaba has actually said in this article, there's not enough there for me to change my mind. Have said all along that the big test will be who plays come the first day of the season, that's when we know for sure, but this article isn't enough for me to start thinking the worst.
Of course, it may just be that I'm in a good mood today...
32

StockportJambo,

25/07/2008 20:03:09
For God's sake guys, stop with all the gloom and doom. Did anyone seriously expect Romanov to abandon his pyramid structure just because we now have an autonomous manager?

Csaba is willing to *discuss* things with Vlad, and vice versa. Ultimately the footballing decisions are Laszlo's, that has been said so many times by the man himself & by others at the club that it's getting boring now.

Stop looking for conflict where it doesn't exist or isn't wanted. You just play right into Hans Christian Banderson's hands.

All Laszlo is saying is that IF Kaunas have a decent player in their ranks then he can come to Hearts perhaps easier than it would be to bring in an outsider. This is an *advantage* that Hearts have that other Scottish clubs don't.

The problem before was that non-football people (e.g. Pedro Lopez) were making decisions about bringing players to the club without checking with the "manager" first.

That doesn't sound like it's going to happen any more.

So, chill.
