HEARTS legends undertake their latest charity assignment in Glenrothes this Sunday against an Adam Smith College Select side.
Tynecastle legends including Gary Mackay, Scott Crabbe, Jimmy Sandison, Jose Quitongo, John Robertson and Alan Lawrence will be at the town's Warout Stadium for a match in aid of the East Neuk Wheelchair Appeal, run by Radio 1 presenter Edith Bowman'
s mum, Eleanor.

"It's the latest in a multitude of matches we're playing on behalf of the Heart of Midlothian Community and Education Trust," said Mackay, who played 737 games for Hearts between 1980 and 1987. "We are putting out as strong a team as we can.

"The money raised is split half and half between the charity and the Community and Education Trust. It's another good cause and, although not one of the bigger charities, I think that can make it even more important. Smaller charities need support and, if we can do our bit to help, we like to do so."

Over the last 19 years, the Bowman family, staff at the Craws Nest Hotel in Glenrothes and local residents of the East Neuk of Fife have raised over £350,000 and given over 90 powered wheelchairs to adults and children throughout Scotland. They have also distributed manual wheelchairs and thousands of pounds in cash donations to community groups and charities.

The match will be refereed by Kevin Toner and kicks off at 2pm.

Ticket prices are £3 for adults and £1 for students and children. Turnstiles, will be open from 1pm on the day with refreshments available inside the ground.

Hmmm....a bit loose with the term 'legends' when we are talking about the likes to Quitongo and Alan Lawrence!

"Mackay, who played 737 games for Hearts between 1980 and 1987." That will be 1980-1997 - shoddy work EEN.

Gie us a break... they are former players giving up their own time for charity.

Can you not just say Well Done?!
