Published Date: 03 October 2008
HEARTS are challenging supporters to fill Tynecastle for next month's visit of Celtic and avoid the club having to issue extra tickets to travelling fans in order to reach capacity.
Officials have brought forward the full open sale of tickets for the match on Sunday, November 2, in the hope of selling out the Wheatfield, Gorgie and Main stands before October 17. Should that happen, they will then release an extra 1000 seats in t
he Roseburn stand to home fans, otherwise these will be allocated to Celtic supporters.

Hearts believe having a home presence in each of Tynecastle's four stands will accord the team stronger backing when the SPL champions visit Edinburgh, and tickets are now available for the three sections mentioned.

Tickets have been on sale for the last couple of months online but the normal 21-day telephone and counter sales period has been extended to 30 days for this match, with Hearts intending to attract as many maroon-clad Jambos as possible to a crowd which should exceed 17,000.

A club spokesperson said: "Clearly we want home fans in all four stands, because we believe it can only help the team and atmosphere. However, the reality is that last season a number of seats remained unsold in the home sections for games against Rangers and Celtic.

"Ideally we want Hearts supporters to take up the opportunity to buy seats across other areas of the stadium allowing us to release these to home fans but, if this does not happen we have to take a commercial view, and ensure Hearts does not lose out on valuable revenue.

"We felt this was the fairest possible approach. We are communicating to our supporters to ask them to book tickets early, back the team and we can fill the stadium ourselves, whilst making it clear that we must consider offering these extra 1000 seats to Celtic supporters if we don't.

"We hope they back the team in this way. We've had a good start to the season, and we want to build on it."

Ticket arrangements for Celtic supporters are being finalised. Celtic tickets will not go on general sale and all transactions will be handled via post. Details will be announced on Monday.

To book tickets for home sections, visit www.heartsfc.co.uk, call 0871-663 1874 (option 1) or visit the Tynecastle ticket centre.

#2, hilarious. hilariously dull.

it would have helped a lot if more hearts fans had bought season tickets. folk are not doing so because of romanov, but romanov isn't the club and it's the club that needs our support and money.

by all means be angry at romanov but romanov isn't hearts, support hearts.

VictorianGorgie,

#4 mothy, everything you said is spot on... but hearts isn't just any club, we have one of the most loyal supports going, we should be above the normal exponential increase in crowds to go with increase in perceived success... we are hearts, not romanov.

never mind the tims will fill it?
big team my butt.

AlanM,

This is the first sign that the the hens are coming home to roost.

Tynecastle would easily be filled if :

We didn't play 4-5-1 at home
We had a decent striker
We had decent full backs
The manager was allowed to pick the team
We didn't have to watch midfielders play in defence
We didn't have to watch defenders play in midfield
We didn't have to watch a team with so many non triers

etc etc

Season Ticket sales must have been very low

Even in the past if Hearts were struggling in the league, Tynecastle would still be filled to the brim against rankers, Celtic or hibs and we were always capable of getting a result. If we lost, the old firm teams knew they had been in a game.
Csaba has to change things now. A lot of Hearts fans won't relish Celtic coming to Tynecastle, if we're going to be playing Mole as a lone striker. And I wouldn't expect Csaba to believe we can hold onto a 1 goal lead against Celtic for most of the match.

10

Who?,

03/10/2008 12:23:34
There are quite a few hearts fans who will never attend a fixture against either of the OF (home or away) but will attend fixtures against other of the provincial clubs.

The songs of hate and dodgy refereeing decisions put people off from attending these games. Who is realistically going to pay for the privilege of being subjected to that? Not to mention that fans have to run the gauntlet of OF fans urinating and vomiting all over gorgie, dalry, fountain bridge, slateford etc.

Vlad is also due quite a bit of blame for falling attendances. There was his interference in team selection which has alienated a lot of genuine fans bus the price of tickets is a joke. To sit in the wheatfield stand in a seat won't expose you to the rain is £72 for two tickets and a booking fee (even if you pay in cash from the ticket office) which is just over the top.

The product on offer in any spl game no matter the teams is £10 max. Fans have been ripped off in a major way since all seated stadia were introduced and its beginning to show as people are voting with their feet.
11

Edinburgh's Big Team,

EH11 03/10/2008 12:26:52
I can understand the stay-aways as there have been many disappointments of late. But surely it would be far better to deny the old firm the full away stand.

Cash flow problem springs to mind... why else would you beg Celtc?

Heard Mr Romanov's up to his usual - no doubt your caterers and printers will themselves be suffering a cash flow problem now too.
13

The Hallucinist,

#11 Whilst I can't be bothered with their songs of hate and have left some games against the old firm absolutely furious after being on the receiving end of dodgy refereeing decisions, there is still nothing more enjoyable when we get a result against them.
I would never miss a game against the old firm because I thought we're going to get decisions against us or because they're singing pointless songs. However, I'm not over excited by Celtic coming to Tynecastle, especially with the tactics I expect Csaba will use.
I could be wrong and I hope I am.
14

VictorianGorgie,

03/10/2008 12:32:12
#14, it sometimes helps is you read the article. hearts are not begging celtic, they are asking our own fans to buy up the tickets.

CBJambo,

I expect the tic to get the whole of the Roseburn stand as there is no way we'll be fillin the ground otherwise... the support is just not there at the moment.

For the record i'm a ST holder in the wheatfield and attend every game till the end. However there are more and more spaces at Tynecastle every home game.

I know some Hearts fans that have started to come to Easter Road to support Hibs and they will never support Hearts again. Hibs - A good Scottish club with Scottish owners.

#8 " This is the first sign that the the hens are coming home to roost."

Exactly. Romanov has a bl**dy nerve asking the fans to fill Tynecastle when he didnt put his hand in his pocket to buy us someone who can put the ball in the net. Celtic go 1-0 up and Hearts are stuffed.

Vic @ 3 - my take on this has been to reluctantly give up my ST in favour of a pay at the gate policy.

That way I can still give support to the JT's, but avoid giving my hard earned to Vlad up front. It's a trust issue and that trust has to be earned ;)

The empty spaces suggest though that not everyone former ST holder is pursuing this policy though.

Hearts supporters today issued a plea to their club - help us fill Tynecatle.
Supporters maintain that filling Tyncastle is not a problem - all they ask in return is greater transparancy regarding club finances & affairs, and that the future of the club is secure.

Can't believe some of you lot. Some of our players are either not good enough or not trying. Following Hearts since the 60's I accept we often have players not good enough but when good players don't try the fans stop trying.I meet people from all over Europe who bust guts to get to as many Hearts games as possible. We turn up and some overated sad boy on £6 grand a week lets us down. Nothing to do with Romanov picking teams, all to do with coaching and commitment.Hearts will finish in the top four this season, hopefully third. Days gone by we could only dream of that but if we do it because the rest are mince and we still have players not trying, then I will not be celebrating. If we finish 5th but try our hearts out then I will be.

VI oap of Edinburgh or whoever he is or was asked the real VI of Tullberg scored 30 goals whould he be up for a night of 'botty passion' as he put it.

So I went one better and offered Tullberg a sacrificial week of my fine rear end if 28 went into the Hobo net.

But had to add a caveat that I'm not a shirtlifter, but for the good name of the Jam tarts.............

Years ago surprisingly Celtic Rangers Aberdeen Dundee United were all ahead of the rest .

Since when has it been Hearts right to be in top 3.

Years back we struggled to stay up and got into the top six and near won the title .
We have still been a lot more successfull than most sides in scotland and have had great league positions.

i could go on and on here but wouldnt matter, its Hearts we are talking about here, you know Always the Bridesmaids.

Some folk need to get a grip oh the history , since when have we ever been garenteed anything.

Thats why i support Liverpool for the Euro Glory..

#91 I can empathise with that, I was personally distraught last week at the return to lack of effort, Stewart lost the plot again, he is not cured of his ills either.
Nade claims he tried to eat his way out, I wish he had, his attitude during the warm up last week was a disgrace. I take it the time bomb that he is, he's getting treated with kid gloves. Personally I'd sell him and Kingston, in January if possible. Jonsson despite his red alternatively wears his heart on his sleeve. As poor as Mole was I cant bring myself to criticise him.
I'm Miko's least likely fan probably, but when he is the guy putting the most in, other than the goalie, Jonsson then its a sad situation.
I hope for better tmrw. I deserve it and so do you.

Go along there. What`s changed ? A different manager maybe but little else.As previous postings say ,Vlad has sickened fans. His meddling and refusal to purchase players while happy to sell them on pashes me right off. We`ll never get the players needed for a sustainable challenge. The defence is pash poor make no mistake.Berra is not a player of any substance ,Wallace will never make it.He has no defensive know how whatsoever.Kingston as I said last season and is proving me right, is no more than an individualistic player where no team would want as a required team man.Stewart is vastly overated,No strikers at all.Unless Tullberg proves to be a find they`ve nobody.Driver is permanently injured .Sorry not for me till Vlad goes which might not be too long judging by the banking crisis.Lithuania won`t bail him out.

HEARTS DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS

Currently supposedly rank but sittin in 3rd place, still getting players back from injury add trying to stabalise the club.
I would hate to see us sitting bottom oF the league if this is what we get for attemtping to improve, the current side is young and still finding its shape.

If we continue to serve up gash like we have been recently, I doubt that even all of the S.T. holders mwill bother.
Let's not kid ourselves guys, the playing staff from last season are not good enough, and any of the new ones are injured.
Something is not sitting right at Tynie.
I will be there again tomorrow, I've only missed the rangers game, but if we get shafted by Kilmarnock, I worry about the trip to the San Giro.

#98 You obviously didnt suffer the loss of 50 quid last weekend on the trip to Dundee.
One team showed bundles of commitment, teamwork and a work ethic for one another, the other simply ambled through the game, sulked and didnt show any ambition until the 50th minute.
No prizes for guessing which one is Hearts.
Forget the league position, its more likely and could easily be 10th or 11th on last weeks showing.
This thing remains fragile and needs strong management and leadership, problem not 1 leader on that park, I would have said Stewart but when it goes wrong he gets bubbly and starts swinging any limb he sees fit.
All I want is effort and I can live with disappointment.

#103 I commend your defence, but things aint as they should be still.
Tough times? Maybe not in comparison some ways, but this is a test of resolution. There is no real feel good factor, there remains a distinct feeling things are not in control, and crisis is only waiting round the next corner.
As much as I dont like it, thats the reality. People find it hard to get enthusiastic while that atmosphere pervades and VR is the reason for it.
On the other hand I agree, its not unrealistic to think things might be worse had he never bought Hearts, that thankfully we will never know.

The point is we are unfortunatley in 3rd place, maybe it would be better for some Jambos if we didnt bother anymore.
I suffered many bad Hearts sides some terrible times, this is not the time to do anything else but support the side and urge them onwards.

We are 3 years lucky to be alive and able to Support in good or bad times.

I am pretty much sick of the rants, im gratefull ive got a side to follow.

Way to many folk want to see Hearts die so they can say` you see i told you`, well the quickest way to die is to lose the life support.
We as fans are the lifeline of our side,im still giving the Romanovs the 5 year timeline.
They have certainly been different but have given Hearts time , winning the Scottish cup and getting up the noses of the Scottish Media Mafia has been well worth it.

#106 Jolly good or will you really be glued to Setanta, through a shop window of course?

Re Hearts, I can see JDs argument and I can see Sarajevos argument, is it not the case we are currently stuck somewhere in between? Some choose to be angry, others philosophical but neither is probably that wrong.
Personally I'd like to see the club back as ours, thats my gripe it just doensnt feel like that club I wanted to help out anymore when they rebuilt the stadium. I dont know if I'd do that for the current regime, simply because I feel they treat us with little respect.
103

jon doe,

03/10/2008 14:55:25
We all suffered tremendously , guys i knew didnt go back for years , that wasnt because they bemoaned the Club but because it hurt. The support who grew up with that side felt it hard, we had Wallace Mercer who was a great man. On a more positive note, how good was it then on May 16 1998 in glorious sunshine, Smiths 9 in a row team with many Rangers greats playing for their final medal were defeated by a team managed by a diehard Jambo and captained by one, albeit he was injured on the day, with the clubs record goalscorer also in the squad.
What a day.

I notice their website is advertising a jumble sale at a local church to raise funds, probably to pay next weeks wages. It won't won't raise much, but it is unlikely they will need to raise enough to pay a win bonus!

Desperate times call for desperate measures and the current state of heart of midlothian fc is definately desperate!

That day was the end of an era , Hearts basicaly held to ransom on wages etc and couldnt keep up with the Joneses.
It led to Roninson losing control of everything and leaving a mess for whoever came in.
Unfortunatley for Romanov he was the face of the Hero and now the Villian.

Fantastic to witness the celebrations and feel the nerves in them last mins seemed like forever. The shock of actualy winning and against such a formidable side. The celebrations in Edinburgh.
Romanov also gave us the greatest moment since, he could still be a Elias Furst another great man was abused and had stories floated about him and his motives, who was with hearst for 30 years.

Wait, if I'm reading some of these comments correctly, then it's the OF's fault that Hearts don't fill a stadium if 17,000? If you would take your full allocation it would prevent you having to mingle with the west coast riff raff you so proudly profess to be above. Please don't even kid yourself that you're loyal fans, and compare it with the urban myth that the OF have glory hunting support. The OF have sold out their stadiums regularly since the 1880's, the occasional blip during reconstruction or end of season games notwithstanding, and even then most teams would have killed for the number that were there then. Believe me, I don't know one OF fan that supports their team for any other reason than their dad did. If you have a few friends in Sitehill that are otherwise then it's not our fault. Get Vlad out and support your team regardless. I for one want both Hearts and Hibs to be around for a long time.

The words "Support" and "OF" are two that should never appear in the same sentance another example is "garry glitter" and "babysitting".

The problem for OF fans is that if they shouted the same things in the street as they shout at a football ground they would end up in court, repeatedly fined then after enough occassions put in prison.

Over the last few seasons uefa have tried to deal with both OF fans but have failed as their behaviour and "folk" songs have never been punished in a court of law. uefa and fifa have both asked the gfa to deal with them but the gfa won't knowing it will set a precedent that uefa and fifa will follow.

Derek riordan is a proven goalscorer, your mob tried to get him but he laughed at you.

Hearts cannot afford to pay their players. You have to resort to having a jumble sale to raise funds!

Read the posts above. Your club is in turmoil. Your fans are revolting (in many ways) and you are all now very worried about the future!

Our training complex is completely owned by the club. Your mob hire/ rent yours.

We paid 4million from the 8million we recieved from SMG, for our training Academy it was a 50/50 split between Hearts and Heriot Watt, and no matter what way you look at it, it is still light years ahead of hibs training pitches in the middle of a field.

Derek riordan is a proven goalscorer, your mob tried to get him but he laughed at you.

Is he? maybe he WAS, but correct me if im wrong, exactly what did he do against rangers last week? he was gash, so bad in fact he was subbed.

Hearts cannot afford to pay their players. You have to resort to having a jumble sale to raise funds!

Typical uneducated Hobo response, players have been paid, yes? no? players were paid this week yes? no?
The sale tomorrow is not the first time Hearts have done this, and is on fact a sale of last seasons stock and last seasons strips. The new range has now been brought out. Now like any other company shop whether it be clothing or other, when the new range comes out the old range is sold off cheaper, happens in every store (Next, Debenhams, Frasers, Jenners, Harvey Nicks) are we to say these stores are in trouble and need the money? along with every other retail outlet in the country who does this. You talk about Finances yet diss a club for making money out of somethng we probably wouldnt have made anything on selling it at normal price. Your statements and ideas are complete contradictions, and show you for what you are, a bitter twisted and jealous little hobo who hasnt a clue what your talking about.

Now run along and play with your stickle bricks, maybe you could design a new stand for petrie to look at, they stil havent decided what they want yet. He might even give you a free brick when they start the buy a brick campaign.

152 GF Cash-strapped Hearts were struggling to meet the cost themselves until the Government altered the rules to allow their funding to go to joint projects involving the local community.

This is basically saying that without government assistance this project would not have been possible!

The Edinburgh club contributed £2.5m, Heriot-Watt University £2.5m, with the rest coming from sportscotland.

Which one is better is hard to say, both have all the facilities? Looking at all the players that seemed to get injured in their first few weeks at Hearts you should really question the training methods? Its not just bad luck.

Hearts own less than 50% of it anyway that much is for sure.

Bit harsh on Riordan tbh. Considering he has just played his first few competitive games in 2years I think he is still a way of full physical fitness as well as match sharpness. Signs so far show he is going to be far more effective/productive than any of the strikers at Hearts. To even argue that is just stupid.

To make two duff comments and then accuse someone of being uneducated is rather ironic.

that would be you BTO and PV.

it's only a matter of time until uefa/fifa swoop in and deal with the old-filth problem themselves. by rights it should be being dealt with by the SFA however they are s*****ng logs at the thought of the repercussions involved in it, and so prefer to keep the collective heid rammed in the sand while hoping the knuckledraggers all go away.

what is reported in the popular media regarding scotland's sickness only scratches the surface, a cursory glance to create the impression that they are doing their jobs properly. if the full extent of knuckledragger activity was ever reported, the real football authorities would be in in a flash with european bans and the like.

the time is coming soon enough when these orcs will be hauled into the modern world, whether the SFA are involved or not.

The Gorgie Boys Are In Town,

03/10/2008 21:14:59
173 It's brushed under the carpet because 90% of these scummy rags are fans of the gruesome two-some from the land of no soap or good manners. The ignorance shown in this day and age you would think some of them are still living in straw houses and walking around with home made spears and ug-ug ing at each other. Yet to evolve in the human species but there's still time

#180 gorgie boys, not forgetting the 'gentlemens' agreement which exists between SDM and the guttersnipes which involves rioters skeletons being kept firmly under lock and key in the closet, and the media parasites being allowed access and privilege to all things at rioters HQ.

a cosy marriage of convenience.

the other manky mob are not harshly treated either, despite persistent howls of derision that they are some poor, downtrodden ethnic group or martyrs.

#187, i would advise an urgent visit to the local heid quack for you sunshine.

HMFC - a broad minded, right thinking group of fans with the maturity to admit to bad apples in the bottom of the barrel, and the balls to reject them.

CFC - a deluded, persecution complex ridden, terrorism apologising rabble of hooks, crooks & vagrants.

#195 I do indeed disagree, and no Im more than capable of much, much more, but here are some things to consider.

You talk about 'terrorist' setting foot in Ireland - are you Irish yourself by any chance? Does Ireland really involve your daily way of life? Do the Irish REALLY care about Scotland or the East End of Glasgow?

Did you know that a large amount of Celtic fans serve in the Armed Forces? Do they 'fete' too by any chance?

You are clearly talking out of your backside and if I was to be associated with Celtic in any way shape or form, I would find you embarrasing.

#190 mcaitchi, as ever i'm delighted to make my views of your team known. another club and group of fans in the same mould as the description i gave about my own team.

hibs - the TRUE irish immigrant based club. celebrate their irish heritage with dignity and understated pride, no requirements to drag ancient issues from a wholly unrelated time into the equation.

YOU brought up the topic of Irish nationalism and then retort to avoiding the question and threw back at me.

And no they dont 'fete' they join to get away from the likes of you. If you were man enough to fight in a disciplined service you would understand.

Jezo, with tubes like you on here, Im in danger of liking Bring Them On and Serg.

I cant believe I have lowered myself to conversing with you. Normally I dont stand down in arguments but this one Im walking as I genuinely find you embarrassing. I do not take part in discussions over bigotry and nor am I racist so I therefore have no requirement to justify this least of all to the likes of you. Away with you and bother someone else.

its a pity we cant all enjoy the banter on the way to and from the game instead we are sepperated and run the gauntlet of vile hatetred comments ,football has not changed for the better ,the more sepperatist attitude fuels the filth language and bitterness, can we not just stick to football and leave the political banners under the bed where they belong.

Who the f*** is that pax character? the pleb speaks through the hole in his backside. Talks about sectarian hatred...look not further than both of the OF, Celtic fans singing about a terrorist organsisation Rangers fansd with the same filth.

Pax before you go mouthing of at the rectum about UEFA this and that praising your fans, a look on youtube will show you exactly the type of filth and disgust your venomous lot sing, i could pull up half a dozen links right away of your lot singing sectarian songs and songs about the IRA, away take your heid out the sand you little tube before commenting on something you clearly know nothing about.

You might call rangers scotlands shame, but i can tell you celtic are equal to it.
