MURRAYFIELD bosses today denied that the 11th-hour cancellation of a proposed media conference by Scotland coach Frank Hadden was connected to both the country's professional teams recording opening Heineken European Cup defeats.
The gathering had been called to "look ahead to the Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Tests" in which Scotland will host New Zealand, South Africa and Canada, with Hadden expected to offer updates on likely selections.
But, last night, the SRU was
forced to alter its plans as Edinburgh and Glasgow licked wounds following losses to, respectively, Leinster and Newport Gwent Dragons.
An SRU spokesman said today: "The cancellation is down to a double booking of personnel. It has nothing to do with weekend results."
The SRU has pledged to reschedule the proposed gathering for later this week. Meanwhile, Edinburgh stand off Phil Godman has pledged that the team will put their 16-27 setback to rights at Castres on Saturday while admitting to feeling part of a collective hurt.
"It was an unacceptable performance and a bitterly disappointing result," he said. "Nevertheless we have a chance to put that right next weekend at Castres."
Godman is also telling Edinburgh's website that there was too much left to do after trailing 3-24 just before half time.
"It definitely was the most frustrating half of rugby I've experienced in my time at Edinburgh," he said.
