MARKLE, East Lothian: There were lots of very hefty specimens landed last week with Tom Russell from Earlston bagging a huge 15lb rainbow on a Buzzer. Over the week, Bruce Hunter from Edinburgh had three double-figure specimens: 12lb 8oz, 11lb 8oz and 10lb 4oz on a white and green lure and M Devine from Morpeth used a white Fritz to bag a brace weighing 21lb 4oz – best 12lb 4oz. ROSSLYNLEE TROUT FISHERY, Near Penicuik (01968 679606): A good week's fishing with many large fish being caught. Mornings and evenings are the easiest times to catch them. A wide variety of flies are still being used from tiny black Spiders to Dance
rs of various colours. Keven Lunn took the heaviest fish of the week with a yellow Dancer used to tempt a beauty of 10lb 8oz; Keith Garden took two fish for 14lb 12oz on Nomads at 7lb 12oz and 6lb 12oz, Jimmy Dunn used a black Pennel to take one of 7lb 8oz, and J Clark took a seven pounder on a Dancer. C Greens took a 3lb blue trout one day then two for 10lb 8oz on another occasion. The Romanno Fishing Club's 16 anglers had many fish between 2lb and 8lb 8oz, the heaviest caught by young Michael Rosen with a black Zonker but the heaviest bag of the day went to Mr Grierson who had four for 21lb 8oz. Recorded catches show many fish caught on CDC's, Klinkhammers, Hoppers, Daddies and Suspender Buzzers, Dancers, Zonkers and Nomads.

FRANDY, Gleneagles: All areas of the fishery continue to fish well and the best taking flies and lures include the yellow and coral Dancers, Muddlers, Cormorant, Kate Maclaren and various CDC Hoppers. On the individual front D Hunter from Plean kept three fish weighing 7lb 8oz; R Paterson, Stirling, two fish for 6lb, Mr Wiseman, Dollar two fish weighing 6lb 12oz, and B Dick and J Hooper, Kinross, nine fish for 18lb 4oz. E Reid & partner, Irvine, kept 12 fish weighing 29lb 12oz. Mr Osbourne from Irvine caught five fish weighing 10lb 12oz; C Low, Auchterarder, took five fish for 14lb 8oz – heaviest 4lb 8oz, Mr Campbell, Stirling, landed two for 6lb 8oz. G Milne, Alyth took five for 10lb 2oz and P McIntosh, Newtonmore had three fish for 9lb. The clubs were out in force again and included amongst the best returns were Auchenhowie A/C with four fish weighing a total of 9lb 8oz, Leslie Llanilar A/C kept seven fish for a total of 17lb 12oz, Aberdour A/C 31 fish 68lb 15oz, Newmarket A/C 14 fish weighing 33lb 4oz and Tullibole A/C 15 fish 39lb 8oz.

HAMMERLANDS FISHERY, Moffat (01683 221220 or enquiries@hammerlandscentre.co.uk): Moffat fishery continues to fish well with the majority of catches coming from Buzzers and Bloodworms (fished at a depth of around one or two feet below the surface. M Heuchan had four fish for 13lb and released a further three for 12lb, taken on a Cat's Whisker; P Watkins from County Durham released a 2lb Blue trout and three rainbows weighing approximately 8½lb on a Flexi boodworm and B Armstrong released more than 12 fish in a four-hour session including a rainbow in excess of 10lb. The majority of the fish were taken on Bloodworms and Buzzers. A McInnes and friends took nine fish for 33lb and released a further 12, all of which were taken on various Zonkers. Top flies include pink Buzzers, Flexi Bloodworm (red) and white/yellow Zonkers.
