FORMER Dumbarton and Forfar boss Brian Fairley has been named as the new Linlithgow Rose manager following the resignation earlier this season of Jim Sinnet.
Sinnet's assistant Gordon Rae has been in charge of the team but had already said he would leave at the end of the season. He will remain in charge until then.
Fairley, who won the Scottish Junior Cup with Camelon, is vastly experienced and knows
the Junior scene well. Famously, he took Bo'ness to a Scottish Cup semi-final against Linlithgow, but left them to join senior side Dumbarton on the eve of the tie.
That decision didn't go down well with the Bo'ness supporters but he accepted the task of saving Dumbarton from relegation, which he did before moving on to Forfar the following season.
However, the rigours of travelling north proved too much and he resigned to spend more time with his family. Now, however, the lure of a big Junior club has proved too strong.
Linlithgow secretary Davy Roy said: "Brian Fairley is well known in football as a man who can get silverware.
"He knows the club well and that's a big factor. Our supporters demand a great deal from our managers and the pressure is huge but that's something Brian can handle.
"Brian will be introduced to the players shortly to give him a chance to get a feel for the club again. We would like to thank Gordon Rae for what he's done at the club."
Sinnet led the well-supported West Lothian club to numerous trophies, including both the Super League title and Scottish Junior Cup last season.
