MICHAEL RENWICK, the former Hibs player who had a spell as assistant manager to Mixu Paatelainen at Cowdenbeath, has been appointed as the new head coach of East of Scotland League club, Heriot-Watt University.
Renwick, aged 33, who spent almost nine years at Easter Road between 1991 and 2000 after signing from Hutchison Vale and who subsequently played for Ayr United, Cowdenbeath, East Fife and Stenhousemuir, also managed Berwick Rangers between 2006 and 2
008 and most recently has been involved with Falkirk's backroom staff.

Ross Campbell, the Heriot-Watt University sports scholarship coordinator, said of Renwick's appointment: "We are delighted to welcome Michael to our staff. Heriot-Watt University has had a tremendous amount of success in the past six years and we hope that continues under Michael's guidance.

"The facilities we have at our Riccarton Campus through our partnership with Heart of Midlothian and accompanied by our Football Scholarship Programme allow us to attract the very best young footballers in the country.

"We believe that Michael has the necessary skills and qualifications to continue the development of players at the university."

Renwick, speaking of his appointment, said: "I am delighted to be offered this post. The facilities at Heriot-Watt University, combined with the option of a Football Scholarship, makes the University a fantastic place to come and learn. I look forward to working with the players in the coming months and hope to continue the success of the past few years."

Heriot-Watt won the prestigious King Cup last season with a 1-0 victory over Vale of Leithen and Renwick's first competitive game in charge will be away to First Division League champions, Tynecastle, in the Premier Division on Saturday, 8 August.
