A TEAM of young East of Scotland cricketers are preparing to fly the flag in a tournament in the north of England next week alongside opposition from as far afield as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and India.
Captained by Kyle Smith (West Lothian and Merchiston Castle School) the East Academy side will start their Longhirst Hall international tournament bid against Ashwick Bulls at Alnwick on Tuesday.

The following day they play another 30-overs-a-side match at 10am against Young Talents Academy, from Dubai, before facing Durham County colts second string at 2pm.

Results of these matches will determine their programme for later in the week when they could face a Delhi Select.

East cricket academy squad: Kyle Smith (West Lothian and Merchiston Castle), captain, Rajan BhopaL, Fraser Boyd, Nick Martin, Zaki Yusaf (all Carlton), Cameron Crawford, Grant Davidson (both Penicuik), Oasmaan Malik (Holy Cross), Ally Maxwell (Peebles County), Kris Mein (Gala), Sohaib Asghar (Livingston) and Patrick Sadler (RH Corstorphine).
