Club's award no consolation

THE north Edinburgh football club refused permission to enter the Scottish league has been given an award by the SFA.
Spartans, whose application to join the upper levels of Scottish football was surprisingly snubbed in favour of Dumfriesshire minnows Annan Athletic, have been given the SFA Quality Mark for their contribution to grass roots football.
The award has come as small consolation to club bosses who were convinced their impressive new stadium and training facilities would be enough to secure them a place in the league following the demise of Gretna.
