THE Scottish Widows brand has been saved after the Lloyds Banking Group said it would merge it with Clerical Medical Group.
However, the merger of the two firms will lead to 50 job losses at Widows' head office in Edinburgh and 305 across the UK. The company has announced that the Clerical Medical brand, which it acquired as a result of its takeover of HBOS, will be phased out and replaced by Scottish Widows.

Archie Kane, of Lloyds, said: "This is the first step in our aim to establish one simplified organisation."
