MSP's motion on unfair fares

COMMUTERS in South Queensferry are getting a fairer deal than their counterparts north of the river, according to MSP Helen Eadie.
The Dunfermline East Labour MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament about First ScotRail's annual railway season ticket charging policy, and wants an investigation.

The motion states: "The parliament deplores the incredible differential of £304 for an annual season ticket, representing the additional cost to rail passengers travelling from North Queensferry station to South Gyle station."

The reason a season ticket to/from Dalmeny is relatively cheap is because Agilent Technologies surveyed their employees, then told Scotrail the number of employees who would get the train to work if it were cheaper. Scotrail responded by cutting the price of a monthly season ticket between Edinburgh and Dalmeny from £72.10 to £54.30.

Hey. It's election time and MSPs need something to put in their campaign leaflets.

Vote for Me. I am wonderful. I am trying to get your train tickets reduced.

Helen Eadie would be better campaigning for more trains and more carriages to help reduce congestion on the Road Bridge.

And presumably, the reason commuters choose to live in Fife and work in Edinburgh is because houses are cheaper, maybe council tax as well - chacun a son gout, Helen.

Yep, as #3 says, it's nearly SHOWTIME, when our elected halfwits - after 4 years of silence apart from grunting at the trough - behave with less dignity than performing seals, jumping on tubs and flapping their flippers to get attention and show US how much they CARE. Doncha just love British Democracy ?

North Queensferry is further from Edinburgh than Dalmeny, so surely it is reasonable that people should pay a slightly higher price for a longer journey?

A differential of £304 on the annual season tickets equates to £0.83 a day to travel the additional 4 miles (return trip). A lot less than the bus would cost, and less than the Road Bridge toll would be to make the same journey.

How much tax payer's money will be wasted by carrying out this nonsensical investigation to satisfy an MSP's desire for a bit of free publicity prior to the elections?
