Published Date: 20 March 2007
A HOTEL has created what it claims is the "world's biggest" hotel room to cater for stag and hen parties, sparking renewed concerns about the city's image as a party destination.
The two-star Osbourne Hotel, in York Place, has unveiled the eight-person room, complete with two en suite bathrooms, to cash in on the growing market.

The room has two double beds and six singles and is part of a £650,000 overhaul of the hotel's facilities. The room costs £150 a night - or £18.75 a head. Shahid Chaudhry, director of the hotel, said: "There is a growing demand for this kind of accommodation.

"We created this suite for group bookings where people don't want to be spread throughout a number of rooms."

However, Graham Bell, spokesman for the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, said: "This is not the general direction in which the hospitality sector in Edinburgh is striving to move. We have been working to bring up the level of what is on offer."

"this is not the general direction in which the hospitality sector in edinburgh is striving to move"
WhO DOES THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE?

next they will be border crossing in to the
"so called capital of scotland"
& if your face does not fit you will not get in.
If this hotel does well with this room watch others follow suit.
if 8 males or female want to sleep in the same room let them.
"we have been working to bring uo the level of what is for offer"
GO & GET A LIFE MR BELL

Exactl Heather. What a miserable calvanist donkey. We should export these people to North Korea and let people enjoy themselves (as long as they dont destroy the place, so what).

Stayed in a hotel in the US (alone!) where the bed was 12ft by 9ft. You could get 8 people in it with room to spare.

Enough to give Mr Bell apoplexy I shouldn't wonder.

Graham Bell should learn to speak for his members - I am sure this is not the view of all members of the Chamber of Commerce. I am one and I totally disagree with this Ding-a-ling.

Alexander Graham Bell should perhaps remember that we operate in a free market and if someone decided to open a hotel with a 450 Feet Ding-a-Ling shaped bed with condom dispensers there is NOWT he and his stupid little snobby attitude could do about it (as long as it conformed to Health and Safety , but of course).
