SCOTLAND boss George Burley has splashed out £2 million on a luxury Victorian mansion in the Capital.
The house, which has been renovated by a specialist restoration firm, is located in Edinburgh's Grange neighbourhood.

The detached villa dates from the 19th century and includes an en suite master bedroom, five secondary bedrooms, drawing room, dining room, sitting room, family bathroom and breakfasting kitchen.

It also features an orangerie, cloakroom, garage, floored attic and a sprawling south-facing garden.

He bought the house from specialist restoration company, Tremmel Properties.

The house was bought by Tremmel Properties for £1,520,000 at the start of the year.

After six months' work, it sold the restored mansion to the Scotland boss and his wife Jill for £2,150,000 – ten times the UK average.

Company boss Ron Tremmel said the neighbourhood was one of the most prestigious in Edinburgh and hadn't suffered as a result of the economic crisis.

He said: "Generally speaking the Grange is bucking the current trend and continuing to sell easily."

An "orangerie"? Wasn't one of the Standard Life bosses selling a house in the Grange with one of those a while ago?

It appears I was mistaken. The house I was thinking of is this one here

It's still on sale: they're looking for offers in excess of £3,500,000. It does indeed have an orangerie (indeed, a majestic orangerie). Orangeries must be all the rage amongst the better-paid residents of Edinburgh.

An Orangrie? Shouldn't Davie Murray have bought it?

Orangerie has nothing to do with the 17th Century Dutch born monarch.

In fact, it's just the Edinburgh word for SHED.

it is old, but it is beautiful
its colors they are fine
