A MEMBER of a sword-wielding gang was jailed for six years today for his part in two stabbings at an East Lothian pub.

William Carmichael, 31, of Pinkie Hill Crescent, Musselburgh, denied two charges of attempted murder but was found guilty after a trial.

He was also found guilty of a breach of the peace, while acting with others who were brandishing knives, swords and other weapons.

Iain Muir, 37, and Graeme Aitken, 34, were stabbed at The Old Ship Inn in Links Road, Port Seton, on May 5 last year.

Sentencing Carmichael at the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Edward Bowen QC said the evidence revealed no
reason for the attacks.
