ONE of the Capital's premier retailers is to receive a major £4.5 million refurbishment.
Jenners, in Princes Street, is to benefit from £3m worth of work this summer.

The rest will be carried out over an 18-month period as bosses reportedly believe the store looks "tired and worn".

Women's accessories, jewellery and shoes are set to benefit from overhauls and expansions while work will also be done on the beauty counters.

New brands are to be introduced to the menswear section, including Ralph Lauren and Gant.

Features in the building's showpiece grand hall will be restored.

The store will reopen following its initial makeover in October.

Dont know how much difference this will make. The takeover was the death knell for this place,Ive hardly been in it and the quality of the goods has went right downhill along with the customer service.

Perhaps they could chisel off some of the slap on the faces of the beauty counter assistants. Oh - and new men's loos on the top floor - they are a disgrace.

And get rid of the employee name badges that scream HOUSE OF FRASER in huge letters and have the person's name in small print...

#4 Spot on. I was the only person in the card department and 2 staff at centre counter. When attempting to pay at the first till I was told to come over to them - so the card got slid along the bar like a cowboy movie and the payment followed. Nice description #4 never thought of that. Never been back either. Bring back JENNERS get rid of FRASER

WE had two great department stores in Philadelphia- Strawbridges and John Wanamaker. Both were in business for years and family run. In other words , American Jenners or Harrods. Well, a few years ago, Wanamakers sold out and not long after Strawbridges too sold out to a huge company that owns Macys. Strawbridges and Wanamakers (one of the old time Wanamakers went down with the Titanic so you know how many years the store was operating. Both stores were never the same and eventually, Macy's merged what was left of Strawbridges with their corporation. Neither store ever had the class of help, merchandise , etc. that they once had when family run. This will more than likely be the end of the beginning for the "new" Jenners. Too bad.

Thing about "Jenners", the old store, 'stores' Soo many memories, when as a child, we were dragged around this store by our Mother.

One memory was, my Mother had just got me a new 'Toy Car',..

While she looked at clothes, I pushed my,..'new toy car' over the floor,...

And Guess what happened,?

Someone 'Stood on It'!!

Poor 'Toy Car',,Poor Me!

Funny how one remembers things!

Anyone else got 'childhood' memories of this prestige Store,?
