Sales of the exclusive homes across the country soared by 138 per cent to 343 in 2007, according to the Bank of Scotland research.

Buyers in the Capital snapped up 148 properties for that price last year.
David Marshall, business analyst at the Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre, said that buyers from England were boosting the market.
