BILLY Connolly is to perform a series of gigs at the revamped Usher Hall.
The Scottish comedian will play at the venue on September 19, 20, 22 and 23. It is a major coup for the Usher Hall, which has undergone a refurbishment that is expected to cost more than £25 million.

Councillor Deidre Brock, the city's culture leader, said: "Billy Connolly is quite simply one of the funniest people in the world and one of Scotland's best loved performers. It's also been some time since he played an Edinburgh gig, so these tickets are bound to sell like the proverbial hotcakes.

"The hall has been undergoing an extensive internal revamp and extension and is shaping up to be a truly world-class venue."

Tickets go on sale on Monday.

If he gets some new gags he might be funny again.

Right then Alex, now's your big chance. Your pithy one liners could be just the boost that the Big Yin needs to revive his career.
I can see the posters now: "Billy talks pith".

He WAS genuinely funny once. From the moment of that unbelievably thick, stupid and tasteless "Ken Bigley" episode I and many lost all respect.

Stick to playing the tartan-bedecked, non-residential Weegie halfwit laird in my north-eastern corner of Scotland, Connolly. Your day is done.
