THE "ballot" to decide the runners for this year's Edinburgh Marathon will be announced tomorrow.
This year's race, which takes place on May 25, begins from Regent Street instead of the usual Princes Street because of work on the city tram line.

Those unsuccessful in the ballot will be able to enter the race to raise money for one of more than 200 charities.

Organisers say the new route introduced in 2007 – which takes in part of the East Lothian coast and finishes at Musselburgh Racecourse – has led to a record number of applicants.

bit of a misleading title,

Do they mean the East Lothian Marathon,
as 80% of the race takes place in East Lothian,
it finishes in East Lothian
and 95% of the road closures are in East Lothian

Has the EN Journalist reporting " Organisers say the new route introduced in 2007 – which takes in part of the East Lothian coast and finishes at Musselburgh Racecourse – has led to a record number of applicants"
the East Lothian part is all coastal, from Musselburgh to Gosford house and back to Musselburgh.

Time for a geography lesson?
