PRESTON LODGE gained their first win of the season on Saturday with a 33-17 victory over Cambuslang to lift them off the bottom of the Scottish Hydro Electric National League Division One table.
The East Lothian men have had a torrid start to the campaign and it looked like things might get even worse for a time at the Pennypit at the weekend.
Graeme Patterson's penalty had given PL a 3-0 lead early on, but by the time 30 minutes had gone
they were 17-3 down and the home support feared the worst.
Alan Blair, playing in an unfamiliar second-row position, scored a converted try just before the break though and it galvanised the hosts who went on to dominate after the interval. Further points came through tries by Forbes Connor, Jonathan Brash and man of the match Patterson as well as kicks by the latter in the second 40 minutes as PL leapfrogged East Kilbride into 11th spot.
Murrayfield Wanderers and Edinburgh University saw their respective matches at Annan and Dalziel called off, while RHC Cougars slipped to fifth after a home loss to Dumfries.
In Division Two, Forrester's trip to Newton Stewart was also off, but Linlithgow secured a fine 13-10 away win at leaders Whitecraigs to stay in the promotion hunt.
In Division Three there were wins for Lasswade and Trinity Accies, but Ross High lost at Helensburgh.
