Vandals leave charity shop with huge bill
A ROYAL Mile charity shop faces a bill running into thousands of pounds after vandals smashed the store's window.
The PDSA shop, at 115 High Street, was targeted along with the nearby Rabbie Burns' Cafe in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The charity shop's manager, Barbara Buckley, said the cost of replacing the glass was likely to be similar to a week's takings.
She said: "It's going to take us a good while to make this money back. It's just a real shame.
"We've been here for 15 years and nothing like this has ever happened before. The staff were all shocked when they found out what had happened."
She said the repair bill would run to four figures because of the amount of glass needed.
