THIEVES broke through the skylight of a Royal Mile teashop, causing extensive damage before making off with little more than £100.
Christina Forsyth, owner of Forsyth's Teashop on Chalmers Close, said she felt "sick" when she opened up on Tuesday morning and saw the damage.

The thieves dropped two bricks through a rear skylight, breaking the iron security bars and damaging the rest of the roof.

Ms Forsyth, 60, said: "They got away with £30 from the float, plus another £80 that had been left in the shop overnight.

"The police said that I was lucky that they didn't smash the place up."
