NEW Rangers signing Andrius Velicka has thanked Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov for putting him on the road to Ibrox.
Romanov sanctioned the striker's loan move to Tynecastle from his Lithuanian club FB Kaunas in 2006, where Velicka made his name before joining Norwegians Viking in February. And, after last month's transfer to Rangers, Velicka has paid tribute to Romanov for facilitating his leap to the big time.

"I have to thank Mr Romanov because he trusted me and he put faith in me when I was at Kaunas," Velicka said. "He gave me my chance and at Hearts I proved to everyone what I could do."

Fantastic article for an Edinburgh paper... Really shows where your loyalties lie and it does not appear to be with your readers... Couldn't this anonymous journo get a job at the Evening Times or the Daily Rangers?

Like Paul on the road to Damascas, Velicka will be transformed into a saint on the road to Ibrox!
