RANGERS are close to completing the signing of Scotland striker Kenny Miller from Derby.
The 28-year-old is set to seal his return to Ibrox, almost seven years after leaving the club to sign for Wolves.

He crossed the Old Firm divide to join Celtic in 2006 before moving to Derby last August.

Miller will become the first player to leave Rangers and have a spell with Celtic before returning to the Light Blues.

He will be reunited with the Rangers management team of Walter Smith and Ally McCoist, with whom he enjoyed success at Scotland level.

Miller said: "It's getting so close now and I'm thrilled at the prospect of working with Walter and Ally again after our time with Scotland."

#1 - i think we all need to give him a chance to be fair. He has looked pretty good for Scotland and we need some pace throughout the team. He's better than big Vinegar at Celtic and for £2m what else are we realistically going to get.

He's hardly "Thriller Miller", but WS knows the lad inside out, and he obviously believes that KM can do a meaningful job for Rangers, so we'll just have to trust his judgement.

Walter seems to be hell-bent on creating some kind of world record for the amount of strikers and central defenders he'll have at his disposal next season. Up front we could have Novo, Darchville, Cousin, Naismith, Boyd, Miller and possibly one or two out of Velicka, Lafferty and this Sporting Lisbon lad.

Meanwhile, at the back, it looks like Weir, Dailly, Webster, Cuellar, a declared interest in Berra and Reynolds, links with a couple of players south of the border, and not forgetting that Broadfoot and Papac are actually central defenders too.

More quality and less quantity please, Walter.

You've got to laugh.

All this procrastination hasn't been down to the 'fine print' over KM's terms...that was another laptoployalist invention.

Rearrangers have been haggling with Derby over the price. They've been trying to knock them down to £1.75m, and in the end have settled on £1.9m , coincidentally the same amount that Celtic paid for Donati. Perhaps if Rangers had done the deal in euros, Miller, like Donati , would be presented as a £3m signing.

Bainochio has been haggling with derby over a few bob whilst Sir Minty's poodles have been peddling a story that it's all down to negotiations over KM's personal terms.

Just heard an interview conducted by the BBC, our UK national broadcasting corporation, with one of the home international team managers. This is the second time this week that this home international team manager has been interviewed. I look forward to hearing an interview conducted by the BBC, our UK national broadcasting corporation, with the rest of the other home international team managers. An interview with our own home nations team manager would not go amiss. This would show that we are all equal in this United Kingdom.

Rangers and Derby have been "haggling" over the price?

How unedifying. With every other transfer, of course, the buying club and selling club just immediately agree on a price, and no haggling ever takes place.

And Kenny is Walter's "first signing" of the summer? Funny, I though that honour was Andy Webster's.

Glad that tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum are here to put me straight.

Strange, that you feel somehow able to speak for Rangers fans.

Not strange, however, that you get it all wrong.

Webster IS a new signing. A few days ago he was a Wigan player, just as Miller was a Derby player.

As for WS claiming that he would "dump" Rangers? Complete nonsense, therefore entirely in keeping with your usual drivel. What Walter said, of course, was that when the fans disapprove of a manager, it usually means that the manager ends up moving on, ie, if he can't win the fans over, his position will become untenable, and he'll be forced to leave. A completely different thing, as anyone interested in the truth would see very clearly.

Being a club manager is not a popularity contest, you will never please all of the support.

All you have to do is look at the abuse directed towards WGS on live radio phone in shows by the GFITW.

WS knows a hell of lot more about the game than we the punters do, so we will have to go along with the players that he brings in, his track record this past season on signings was not to bad.

I suspect the way big SAMMIE has performed at the EURO 2008 he might be the tics first signing, as I don't hear of to many clubs willing to pay the reported 3mil for him.

Speaking of paying Webster and Weir wages you are correct.

But it is still a lot less than the 70k each week for Graveson and Balde.

Disgraceful signing and a complete waste of money, Bomber Brown told us about this some time ago and told us that WS has put his neck on the line for this. For me I can accept a cross the glasgow divide signing, but i cannot accept a player who crosses that divide, scores against you and then thumps/kisses the badge of the that team. KM will not score goals, he will continue to run around like a headless chicken and will probably move on before the end of the season, he has raked in transfer fee moneys to his hearts content, he IS the poor mans Anelka

Big Stevie,

Funny that almost every Scottish media outlet have overlooked the fact that almost 500k of Millers transfer fee is currently winging its way into the already bulging Celtic Park bank account due to a bonzer deal being negotiated by he of the sharp suits.

Not sure why but allow me to speculate that it may be be in order to spare the Ibrox also rans further embarrassment in a year already stuffed with disgrace for Scotlands Shame.

It amazes me that the tic support know every financial detail of RFC transfers.

Stevie I hate to tell you this but it is rare and only in special cases,(usually young players with great potential) that a previous club receives a 25% of a sell on fee. Especially when the selling club Derby have sold the player at a loss. But why let facts get in the way of you're post.
