A PHOTO of Prince William cuddling a three-week-old girl has been used by maternity staff in Edinburgh to highlight how not to hold newborn babies.
The picture, which was put up at the at the Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion, shows the 24-year-old prince cradling a baby during a recent visit to a London hospital.

But staff in Edinburgh have highlighted mistakes made by the prince - including exposing the baby to bacteria by not rolling his sleeves up and putting her at risk of cross-contamination by sitting too close to a sink - and turned the picture, later taken down, into an unofficial baby-holding guide for nurses and visitors.

Health officials have confirmed the warning poster "had not gone through the proper channels".

Maybe Bill thought that cos he was in a hospital he should feel secure in the knowledge that someone had thought to drag a cloth over the place now and again perchance even using a proprietary cleaning solution. Fat chance right enough. I've also checked and the last recorded case of shirt related transfer of infection (via an heir to the throne) to an infant was in 1872 and was never even proved.

The problem appears to be that Prince William was cuddling the baby in hospital. If he was out in a back garden, (one without dogs) he would maybe notice that some babies actually head for the nearest lump of earth for a tasty nibble. It may go against his principles but when he raises his own family he could note that sometimes the grottiest kids are the healthiest kids.

Let's be down-to-earth. Just because he is a Prince does not mean he necessarily has to be perfect. This act at least shows that he did not go through endless practice of how to handle babies before visiting the hospital. It also highlights the fact that he is being natural in his approach. Using this mistake of his in such a way, just because he is popular is very cruel and disgracing. Anyone could have done same.
