High 5: Derek Cranston
Derek Cranston, 49, Scottish Government policy officer, from Sighthill, names his top five pubs and clubs in Leith.
1 Jan's Place, Queen Charlotte Street. A real slice of auld Leith toun, with some great characters and crack, from super Kev the demon pool player to Gordon, the expert on all things Wishbone Ash.
2 The Tor, Restalrig Road. Another example of what Leith's really about. I've recently adopted this as my local and I've been made to feel most welcome.
3 Carriers Quarters, Bernard Street. A really compact, atmospheric band venue. Check it out on Sunday nights when the excellent Jammy Devils play.
4 Central Bar, Leith Walk. Traditionally a great music venue, which provides a real snap shot of old Leith.
5 Post Office Club, Restalrig Drive. As a member of the table tennis club whose home matches are played here I can't speak too highly of the committee members who have done so much to help us.
